depending on spring rates..

i had 18s on jumbos..and it was perfect....
change my jumbos to Tein SS and it was scraping like a biatch!
Wheels were 18 x 7.5 though....

I bought my DC2R with 18s the wheels are 215/35/R18 and only just fit with bout 0.5cm-1cm of clearance, but they look good you can see a small pic on here:

http://hyper-tuning.esposit.org/cars.html

right down the bottom of the page.
looks better close up.
but yeah my mates reckon it's been given lowered king springs but I'm eventually opting for coilovers, so atm its fine.
Yes the ride is rough but hey if you bought the car for the love of the car then the ride dnt matter as much, and the recaros cushion most of the bumps anyway.

I had 18"x7" rims on an ED Civic and only had mild rubbing on the inner guard.

if u gettin 18's roll your guards to stop the scrubbing

if ur wheels right offset and size u dont need to worry about rubbing or roll the guard..........

yer tru boout the offset so many choices out there makes it hard and i see so many with wrong offsets and that.. will see this week though i cant wait its been like 6 months since i resprayed my car so its bout due lol

you will be fine man. just tell the dudes at the rim place wat u want. also if u have stock shocks u may scrub over fast humps where the momentum of the car is moving downward. Other than that its a modest drop so u shuld b kool man .
18's is good compromise between looks and drive

umm... b4 u get ur 18's, u gotta think about something... if ur goin for looks, go for it!! if ur a racer, then u might wana think twice... a HUGE compromise in performance with the 18s!!!

Depends on what style of 18" rims. Lightweight 18" rims from Volk or speedy Lite 7's are good performance rims but really light. The lower tyre profile also stops sidewall flex and gives better grip/precise handling.

I have 18's on my N14 SSS and have used it in hill climb events with them on... no problems.

dude... i dont think the tyre weight is the most important factor when it comes to compromisation of torque with bigger size diameters... think about it this way... if u had 16" wheelz, and it spun at "X" rate at say 5k rpm... then at the same rpm with a set of 18" rims, you will travel at "Y" rate.. (X > Y)... to get the 18" rims to spill at the same rate as the 16" set of rims.. you will need to increase the amount of HP of your engine... if u have a spare set of 16" rims, try them instead of ur 18"s, u will definitely notice quite a significant difference

I had my car dropped 4 inches and sitting on 17x7's and it neva scrubbed
it alldepends on the offset and size of the tyre/rim

That is what low profile tyres are for... lol

I have the same rolling diameter with my 18's as my set of 15" rims. I have 15" rims and my lightweight 18's weigh less than the 15's. The weight is a little further from the rim but the unsprung weight and driveability is much better with the 18's. Ultra High Performance tyres are used on larger diameter rims for a reason. 18" chromes are heavy and would validate your arguement but there are plenty of lightweight 17/18's on the market these days.

It is the same concept as a lightweight flywheel, I basically have a lighter flywheel but all the weight is moved away from the crank when compared to a stock flywheel. They both end up accelerating at the same speed and require the same amount of effort(torque) to get moving.
