Yesterday was with a friend to change his brake pads in his City, while he was changing have told him why not remove the dust brake shield, as there is no use or benefit mostly are to protect the rotors from small stones, rocks or water but it hardly ever rain here and also hard to get hit by rocks, so we took it off, and found out it the rotors looks a lot nicer with alloy wheels. We took it off for better air flow to rotor to cool it We took it for a ride found no change, but when we drove it high speed and stop many times we found out the fade is a bit less. I am going to change my brake pads soon and will do it.

Today will I was at the tire shop. There a Renault Clio and have found out while he was changine his tires, that there is no rotor dust shield on his brakes, and asked the owner he said since he bought the car brand new it's like that, so there no such worry about removing it, and if you are going to install bigger rotors you HAVE to remove it.
