just curious as to why everyone who has a turbo kit uses a td-04/05?? all the yanks seem to use em and same here in oz. is it because there are alot of them around??
cause they wouldnt be the best thing to use on a honda as your not running much boost anyway, why not t25/28? theyre smaller and can hold the same amount of boost as a td-04/05 and theyre cheaper. :?

ok then, any other reason??
but when getting a turbo kit the car has to be tuned, cant you do something as to when the car will start to come on boost??

i wanted to know for when i start buying stuff for my own turbo kit. so should i still get td-04??

The reason the td0x seriers of turbos are popular, is because thats what GReddy uses with thier turbo kits - which are a very popular startin point with honda conversions. T3/4's are used alot more with B-series and built engines due to the large combinations of exhaust/intake houses around and the ability to be found really cheap (used on alot on factory turbo vechicles/junkyard styles). Ball bearing T28's are good but expensive++. Bigger and better turbos (GT30's++ etc etc) are not really used due to the mostly less then 2.0L's of displacement that our engines provide.

meh is really late, the above prolly doesntmake sense

what Weq said, they are used in the Greddy kits. The TD-04 that is commonly used isnt a terribly big turbo in any case (its not the same as a T4 or T04).

Personally i think most yanks use oversized turbos in their setup, they are only now coming around to the idea of using GT28's etc.

The car will come on boost depending on how far your right foot is planted, thats how to control it ;)

The basic EG EX/VTi GReddy kit turbo runs out of puff at about 15 pound (from what I've read) which would be a fairly good match if you ask me. It's not hard (although not cheap) to build the bottom end to take that amount of boost reliably (for a daily driver etc), the US people have faith in the stock sleeves for this kind of boost. The turbo also comes on low in the rev range so it's not a beast to drive.

meh what u guys smoking.

Tdo4 are common cos WRX drivers upgrade their turbos, and then they sell their stock ones for like 300, and usually in good condition. T25/t3 are also good sizes like the td04 for small (6 psi) boost. but nissan drivers are always looking to get them cos old s13's have alot of blown ones.

Well i know nothing cos i always use new parts now.

true td04's are used for wrx's, but they are made by mistubishi and are used _more_ commonly on DSM's and Talons and to a lesser extent, GSR mistbusihi engines. But i still claim the fact he is referring to that alot of ppl use TD04's is due to the fact they area good start in a cheaper greddy turbo kit!

yes,

Its simply because people want to turbo their civic. Where to they go? GReddy kit has everything they need. Buy it, bolt it up off you go. What turbo does the GReddy kit come with? TD04...

There would be no point of them buying a t3/4 then making up a custom manifold and piping when they could go for a kit which is mass produced and alot cheaper.
