Hey guys, I picked up a 2nd hand 98 VTI-R bout 4-5 months ago and it was only after I bought it I realized that the driver's side door is not aligned when its closed. It bothered me for awhile as i'm guessing the car has been in an accident before and everytime I open the door it reminds me of that possibility.

It sticks out about 1cm and is noticeable if you look at it carefully. I'm just wondering if a smash repair shop could fix it? What would it involve and perhaps a ballpark figure for the fix would be great. Cheers!

You can fix this urself.
Quite a few older tegs have this prob i find.

Open ur door,
Where the door latches onto the car when close, you should see a metal rung sticking out (b better if i had pics)
Simply losen the screw that bolts that metal rung to the car, and shift it inwards 1cm, then screw it back in place.
When you close your door now, it should sit flush with the rest of the car.

Its a common prob with the DC, that metal rung (u mite say it looks like a small horse shoe) comes lose, and shifts out of place, hence when you close the door it doesnt line up.

Ill try and get some pics for u if u need it.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply mate! I think I know what you're talking about. Few days back I was looking at the part that holds the door to the body. Obviously the wrong part to look at now that you mention that metal ring.

Thanks again!

EDIT: Just made a quick run down to the basement. Had it fixed in 3 mins =)
