Hi i was told by another member that the b16as & b18c7 (ITR) have a baffled sump of some sort. Its only a small baffle.

Ok now here's the question.

Do they have one?

Anyone got a pic of what it looks like?

Only reason i am asking is cos i was gonna put one in but can't be bothered if there's one there already. Any help would be appreciated.

No they don't. Baffle is like a plate in your sump that reduces the amount of oil that goes from side to side when cornering.

sorry i think i wasn't clear. I know what a baffled sump is, i've got one i'm gonna install but i was told that b16as & b18c7 had a sort of baffle already.

That is what i wanna confirm and a pic of the b16a stock baffle

If they mean that there is a slope (sort of a baffle) then yes. Looks similar to the pic above but without the plate.

This is what my b18c's looks like. Can't really tell but there are two baffles, one by the pick-up and one near the shallow end for run off. I don't know if all the b-series are that way but most of the ones we have done seem to have that same design.

Yes Slow that's what i was looking for. I was told the b16a has something similar to the b18c7, (all the other b18c missed out unless it was an ITR)

Can someone confirm the b16a's sump?

Barefoot - do you have one lying around so we can compare?

Barefoot - can't see the pics?

bugger looks like i'm not gonna bother now since it does have some baffling.
Wish someone had told me earlier cos i went to all the trouble of putting a lip on my baffled sump!

yes... thats there is already a plate there from factory for the ITR.. not sure about the rest..

Kinda makes me wonder why there people use another weld in baffle plate..

becareful of oil starvation if u decide to run both

If the baffles are designed with consideration for adequate drainback you have nothing to worry about. This is why I am a bigger fan of trapdoor style baffles compared to the top plate and lip ones that you see (even though I run a top plate and lip style).

And as for adding in another baffle plate when there is already some there..... they have proved to be not enough with cars that have hit the track, especially when running semi's.

FWIW........ I'd rather spend money on a pan first than buy a gauge just to tell me that I am getting pressure loss.

Blitz, only b16a and b18c7 had them. All the other ones didn't have the baffled sump.

Barefoot - since you have had both can you tell me, is it worth putting in the baffled sump for tracking or is the stock one good enough?

Also did you get more noise in the sump from the baffle?

And did your get that baffle from Dave from Clubrsx? cos i think i got the same one.

Yes its worth for track, esp for high corner tracks. $100 for safety, rather then spedning 1k for a spun bearing.

I don't see why there would be more noise with a baffle sumped?

was told the stainless steel may add to noise and the oil moves around on it.
