The forums are pretty easy to use. Only thing to note is about private messages or 'pm's. You can view and send these from the top right of most pages under where it says "Welcome, SiR_Ek4".

In regards to cruises, they tend to be organised pretty regularly as well as local coffee meets. It depends on what state you are in, but check out the "Upcoming events" section :).
