Hey guys, I'm in the market for a sports exhaust system.. just wondering whats the best system out there for around $1500 for a cat back system.

Something without the typical farty canon...

cheers:thumbsup:

Yeah Fujitsubo IMO, I've heard my mates S2k with it aswell as my B16A and it sounds just too nice! If your after a more deeper tone (the fujitsubo is more quiet I reckon) then maybe try the HKS?

if your after loud loud then buddyclub is the way to go!

matt

Fujitsubo Rm-01 or Toda

_CiVIC_
01-09-2006, 11:28 AM
hrmm nelson do you have the power getter?

I don't want something loud that is going to drive me nuts, so buddyclub is outta the way ahahhaha

yeahh the power getter u'll love... not too loud but sounds sex!

hopefully in november :p

bubblecivic

Yeap that's the one I have! It will sound very soft IMO with just the cat back.. actually it's a very nice soft tone... hollow type sound lol it's hard to say.

Pair it up with some headers and it will sound abit lounder and deeper.

_CiVIC_
01-09-2006, 11:41 AM
cool!

well i'll probably end up waiting a month or so till i do headers and high flow cat.. but it will be done :D

_CiVIC_

just got a quote on the power getter cat back.. is $1050 reasonable??

VTi_b0i
01-09-2006, 11:45 AM
yeahh thats ok...
u dont want something too loud where u cant hear ur intake :p

_CiVIC_
01-09-2006, 11:48 AM
thats true Chris.. but i thought exhaust quiet down around 6,000rpm when the intake kicks in...

or is this a myth?

bubblecivic
01-09-2006, 11:49 AM
I'm pretty sure I saw it with one of our traders for $950 !! Have a browse mate, I'm quite definite..

Edit: thats for the Powergetter... not the Rm01a that I saw...

_CiVIC_
01-09-2006, 11:58 AM
Nelson, I'd probably end up going the power getter anyway, because its going to do what its name says "get power", but I searched on the traders and JDM Yard have it for $1000... i bet my mate could match it lol still not bad price for a jap brand

btw looks like my intake will be coming next week :(

VTi_b0i
01-09-2006, 12:04 PM
talk to yonas and that and im sure they'll give u a good price :) top guys @ JDM Yard

I personally bought the Toda and am more than happy with it. It is quiet at low revs, yet makes a beautiful sound up top. I currently have 138kw at the wheels with a mugen intake, toda headers and kpro...

The workmanship on it is second to none and i would really recommend this to anyone!

VTi_b0i

how much did the toda zorst set u back but?
TODA are top of the range products, but unfortunatly most of their products are out of most peoples price ranges...

whats the difference in quality with power getter and rm01a?

does the rm01a make more power ? or is the quality of the build just better..

02-09-2006, 06:04 PM
i the sound of the rm01a at idle and low revs is really fluttery.. i think i like the sound of the powergetter better

Have a read of those HyperREV for DC5, Mugen twin-loop restrict power alot to try to be quiet, the quiet exhaust sound is just a gimmick

But it's welcome to use mugen for bling though

Max Power

Mugen Twinloop is a very restrictive exhaust. I have attached a pic of the toda for y'all to look at :)

erm

since when is the mugen restrictive ?

its only in the lower revs that the zaust gases flow thru the twin loop, and in the higher revs it just goes directly out to the tip, so its not restricted at all ...

??? No...
The gasses go via the loop at all times is a twin loop.
The muffler has no special osmosis ability.
That said, the power output is still OK.

FWIW, Quitest exhausts are Mugen & TODA.
Best power is TODA & Fujitsubo Power Getter.
Some exhausts are worse then stock also. (& sound awful)

hey dude, seeing that you also have a type S, what do you have on your car? By the way I have found that the Fujitsubo Power Getter will cost me $1,050 for a cat back. How does the TODA exhaust compare to this?

Any noticeable increase in power?

If you are getting headers and intake why not get a custom 3" system and that way you dont have to cut the headers to put the cat in??? I currently am running Toda Headers with a custom 2.5" cat back but want to upgrade to 3" in the near futute, i guess i could always sell you my 2.5" if you were interested....

i think he's more concern on the noise level of the zorst system and its legality.

As far as I know, anything over 90db can be defected anyway or more or less anyting aftermarket/custom can be defected - its all up to the officers/cops to issue defect notice or not. Not unless you hold a valid Engineers Certificate - evenso, I'v heard of people still getting defected.

_CiVIC_
04-09-2006, 01:39 PM
Eoh, thats right, from my research the EPA when dealing with exhaust systems rev your car around 4-5K rpm, at this rev the Fujitsubo power getter is around 92db, once vtec initiates its around 103db.. but they can't get to vtec in neutral in my car...

VTi_b0i

I have the TODA exhaust on my Type S.
It is almost a quite as stock at idle & cruise with no cabin drone what so ever.
When driven with vigour, the exhaust note is deep & sporty.
Price is $1450

I've used Fujitsubo & Mugen previously on my own car & the TODA is best by far.

TODA AU
20-09-2006, 06:57 AM
You disagee that the BC3 is tested as a poor performer based on what? Feelings?
Now you want to know about testing two other exhausts?

Exhaust systems are are black & white. There are no grey areas.
Personal preferences or the ppl using them have nothing to do with what works better or produces more power.
If an exhaust system produces less power than others is is a poor performer, period.
Fact is the BC3 exhaust is the worst performing exhaust on the market.
To put it more simply for you. If you have one & you like it... Good for you.
Guess what, if you put anything else on, you'll make more power. (and it'll fit properly)
It has nothing to do with the people using it or their feelings about a product.

We've tested a number of exhausts on the DC5.
The TODA exhaust produced best power (& sound IMO)
2nd is Power Getter, 3rd was Mugen.
We've never bothered with the RM10A vs the TODA or the Mugen as it clearly makes less power then the Power Getter.

i can defiantely recommend the toda catback, i fitted mine last night (one i picked up slightly used) and it sounds fantastic when fanging around, but on plight throttle when cruising you can hardly hear it.
butt dyno rekons there more power in mid-high rpm, there is possibly a little less bottom end but im not 100% convinced on that part yet.

installation was an absolute piece of cake too.

i'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here, but with regards to custom exhausts, i really don't think you would get anything worth your while.

unless you spend heaps of $$$ and hours of R&D developing an exhaust especially made for your car, (something like professional race teams ie V8 Supercars) there is just no logical reason why you would spend say $500 - $1300 for a custom exhaust.

With that money, you can buy a JDM brand catback or something that was researched and developed for the DC5 and when you want to sell it, it's still worth something to someone.
