yokohama DNA gp's

hey guys, trying to get some info on the DNA gp's. i know they made it into aus as the avs es100, but are they the same thing different name? yokohama rates the es100's better the c-drives, if they are what are they in competition with from other brands?

picking up a set of 4 around 80% for $350, is that a good price of dnas?

i got DNA GP's on with my ek9 rims. they are a great tyre. i have had falken rt215's before. DNA's are much quiter. but not as grippy. still. i think they would be comparable to bridgestone g3's. i have tried my mates eagle f1's and they are ok. but i prefer the DNA's.

here are my tyres so far in terms of performance.

1. Falken rt215 (195/55/15) grippy but noisey and wear quickly.
2. DNA GP (195/55/15) best for street
3. Eagle F1 (205/50/15)

I also have kumho v700's (205/45/16) which i havent tried yet.

Yes identical to es100. The es100 is better than c-drive, c-drive is for sports driving but the "c" puts emphasis on comfort.
I personally found a little more tread block movement than I expected when they were new but now that I'm used to them I think they're great (mine are 15's so the high profile may be to blame), excellent grip in all conditions and when they do let go they do it in a very controllable progressive manner, and that's important when running a 23mm rear sway bar like mine which can be made to oversteer easily.

I get fleet discount and still paid $210 per tyre for 195/15's.

Yokohama also make the A-drive which may be worth a look.

Don't look down on C.Drives if you haven't tried them. If you look at the thread pattern, it is similar to Advan A103. The difference between the two is that the Advan was made for over 300km/h speeds.

And btw, for 205/55 R16, Tyrepower quoted the C.drive as being more expensive than A.drives!

But is is easy to see the difference mainly in the outer tread pattern that the A103 will be superior to the c-drive, don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with c-drives but they have a tread pattern with more individual blocks towards the outer edge which will flex more under load but also offer a smoother and quieter ride. All tyres are compromised in one way or another and c-drives are compromised in favour of comfort more so than the others shown above. :)

Looks like a pretty decent price to me. Well below half price but 20% used, if they've worn evenly then sounds like a good buy.
