View Full Version : Burnt Trans oil any ideas?

hey ya'll recently serviced a mates HRV 98', that he got at an auction dirt cheap compared to others, and while servicin i found he's trans oil was wayy too overfull and was burnt, any ideas on this?

changing it would be a good idea if you havnt done that already :)

yea i noe, i will need to bring to work to get a complete major done on it. kinda hard doin a trans oil chnge over on ur bak =.=

I do themon the ground with the car jacked up and a drain tray, works for me :)

yea but i was given uneven groundin and its a HRV so the best i could wit the current jak was raise it enuff so i could fit under, the front wheels were still touching the ground. and seriously i dont wanna *** around wit honda trans oil or power steering oil.

uhh yessss. had the car on the jak for at least 2 hours, jak stands were there but still in the box :P unopened cos im lazy

HRVs should be CVT. And yes, if you drive at high RPM for long durations, an auto or CVT trans fluid can overheat and get burnt. And BTW, HRV has high ground clearance. You don't need to jack it up to change transmission and engine oil.

dude i was on a slant so i had to, even jaked up i had a little trouble fittin under and manuvering my ratchet to the sump plug, which i mite add the washer was squashed to oblivion O.o took me 7 mins to get off cos i didnt hav my pliers handy

You jacked the car up on a slanted surface and then went underneath the vehicle without jackstands?? :eek: :eek: :eek:

call me super man :P i bought a shitty jak from autobarn tat cant even raise the vehicle tat high =.= nice to c i invest in quality materials :P

do your self a havour and never nerver get under a car with only a jack.

you think it will never happen to you, but it does happen. not nice at all


jack stands are cheap

yea i noe, OH&S but thing was the jak couldnt lift the vehicle enuff for me to place the stands anyway. Had em' jus couldnt use em'

especially with a supa cheep jack. ( more odds against you :) )
