I wanna build a EW5 1.5 mpfi engine

Hey ppl Im new to this forum. I have a 1985 crx(USDM). Im trying to gather some information on the Ew5's I understand they were not availible in the U.S. Thia being not many ppl here knows much about them. Thing is they make more power than the stock SI engine. They look just like a carbed engine we have here, but they are fuel injected. My question is how/why do the have a higher output han the Ew4/D15a3 engine. Im currently mating a D15a3 block with a D15a2 head which is just like the Ew5 head but the cam is a little different in the Ew5. Im going to run the SI cam in the D15a2 head with the Ew4 MPFI manifold on it. Im also gonna run the 86-87 Integra ecu and F/I. I thought since we never had the Ew5 here someone down there may have some info about it for me. I did a search but didnt find what i was lookin for.

you should try and import a complete EW5 motor!

how/why do they have a higher output than an Ew4/D15 - compression, stroke and EFI.

Why do you want to build an EW5 motor anyway - there is probably a total of about 20 in the world LOL - should just swap a DOHC ZC or a B16A into the little Gen1!

What other info do you want to know?

EW5s were in the JDM Gen1 CRXs. 1.5 SOHC PGM-FI (programmed Electronic Fuel Injection) or just EFI but was a wanky term back then as those were the 1st EFi motors Honda made.

I just happened to come across a D15a2 head for a replacement head. Dont have the funds for a swap rite now( I know all about the D16/ZC swaps) NO one has this setups and I understand that cvcc heads hold up really well when boosted. There is some guys up here that are boosting stock ew's and running with s2000's no NOS. So Im wanting to make this something different. But with my block(SI pistons) and the CVCC head ill make more compression than the EW4 and the EW5's. So im sortta wanting to do this ya know? Know one gives the ew's a chanc e anymore. Everyone wants v-tec. That and this turbo setup is coming to me really cheap, these guys run 9psi of boost on stock SI engines and they are not having any problems. They are upgrading their fuel pumps but thats it. They r running 9.20's in a 8th mile easily. I dont wanna build a Ew5. I wanna get my engine as close to one as I can.....

Yeah - I understand you're going to boost the EW4 - but im not understanding what you need to know about the EW5?

There is a guy here in Perth who boosted an EW2 - a carby version of the EW motor and was getting something nuts like 130HP@wheels on 6psi on a stock motor.

So yeah - Im just not sure exactly what you want to know about the EW5 if you're running an EW4 bottom end and a D15 head. :P

Basically IM trying to find out what honda did to the ew5 to make it make more power....thats all:)

they made 100HP stock.

i recon if you wanna make it UNIQUE - save up for an EW5! :) and get the real deal!

Even if you keep it NA its still gonna have more street credit than many other CRXs - as its a true JDM OLD SKOOL ENGINE!
