They have added 10% ethanol to all their fuels - which is why theyre cheaper
A mate uses their PLUS ULP 95 octane in his 6 from what he says its pretty good no noticable diff in performance and usually ~10c cheaper than other petrol stations..

honda's are ok with ethanol. many say it ruins your engine but so far no proof really(not that i've seen). I don't use it i always use 95prenium bp. 95's the best for my engine even better then 98ron as my civics an si non vtec.

If you are an Optimax user, give Caltex Vortex98 a go. :)
My car runs rough on Optimax but is smooth when you use Vortex98.

vortex98 is 5 cent more expensive than normal optimax isnt it?

Vortex98 is 1 cent more expensive than Optimax and Ultimate. It is the same price as Mobil8000.

Why would you want to increase your fuel octane level by that much though? It'll just be more difficult to burn.

BP ultimate FTMFW!!!!!!

i get 520+ kms compared to 450-500 on vortex..

I used to be a vortex zealot coz its cheaper ( with vouch) but the extra dosh gets you long way with bp stuff...

No, higher octane means more difficult to burn. It doesn't mean better performance.

it comes down to how much fuel can be compressed before it ignites
see link below. Generally in high compression cars a higher octane rating will allow more fuel to be burn thus making more power.

Actually, it's how much the charge can be compressed before it self-ignites.

Have to say, BP's Ultimate is very good... maybe it's just my imagination - but my car runs more smoothly on Ultimate than it does on Vortex 98 or another other fuel for that matter! Anyone with the same experiences?
