JDM DC5R still had a K20A

JDM DC5R All years - K20A
AUDM DC5R - K20A2
AUDM DC5S - K20Z
RSX 02-04 - K20A2
RSX 04+ - K20Z

but if your asking if you can put K20A in you DC5S then yes you can, pretty simple really if you got pleant of $$$ you just have to find an engine that is of the same age or newer than yours

U sure? Cause It looks pretty much similiar to the S but with wing and JDM white wheels.

Im sure that both have the same engine... correct me if im wrong.. need to find the specs.

the jap type s (used to be called iS) is equivalent to the normal integra here, have a look at the taco on that page you linked, it is at 6800 or so. this car uses the K20A3.
while the type r uses the k20a with 8400 redline.
dont forget that the big wing on the R is optional in japan, you might be getting confused there but the r defo uses K20A.

Confirms what matt above said. Japanese Type s is not equivalent to ours as it comes with 118kw.

So you question should now be more along the lines of "DC5S engine swap to K20A" which would probably be the same as K20A2 (Aust DC5R) swap to K20A.

I don't think it's worth it. Engine conversions cost a fair amount even though this would would be more straight forward. With K20A you'd only be getting an extra 8kw at the flywheel... which isn't much at the wheels.

If you've got the money to spend you're better off modding your current type S. See the 'Love for the Type S' thread. Someone has done exhaust, cai, and headder and apparently puts out 130kw at wheels (approximately 185kw at flywheel?).

just build your current K.
IPS cams with a set of pistons and rods.
I/H/E
ECU

those mods alone would be killer!

yeah as hullabaloo says its the same as audm dc5r swap.
pretty much any honda that has a k series engine in it from the factory would be a reasonably straight forward swap, im waiting for someone to put a k20a in a new civic sport.

and paul1985 is spot on just spend the money on mods for your current engine

You can put a k20a into a DC5S, but it is not legal. You won't be able to get it engineered/certified because the engine you are putting in is older.

would it still be illegal if you some how managed to get a 05 or 06 japanese DC5R half cut?

As long as the engine is newer than the car, it is possible to get it engineered.

i wouldnt buy a whole new engine for it..
Id do something similar to this for sure:

Theres so much better you can do for a cheaper price than buying a whole new engine!
For the same cost you could make it so so quick, that depends on what your after though?? I wouldnt waste the money on a straight K20A swap into it.
