Hey people,

I come from a turbo background (s15) and just purchased a DC2-R off my mate, it is stock bar the 17" racing rims.

I want to extract a bit more power, what should I spend the first $2k on? I have coilovers waiting for me so handling wont be part of the equation yet.

Should I go,
Air Box
Headers
Extractors
Exhaust
(tho this might definitely blow over 2g)

Will this provide a decent improvement and will be it noticable immediately?

headers and exhaust will give u the most gains out of that listthe airbox will provide better breathing and make it easier for the car to preform......

but yea those would be he first thigns that i change if i bought a new car

2k, Not trying to stir things up here, but my B18c is stock apart from a short ram intake and K&N pod, and just plugging in a B18c Power FC made a difference and im just running the apexi map atm, after tuning itll still be under 2k so that would leave enough for a 2.5inch catback exhaust aswell and a SRI.

Yeah Exhaust and headers but it could be over $2000, but than again it depends what brands you go, you can get JDM 4-1 and 5Zigen 4-2-1 headers for around $700, than there is Xforce 4-1 (I got them on my DC2R), but also TODA, SPOON ect but these are all top brands that are close to $1500.

My system is around $1500, it has Xforce 4-1 headers, 2.5" high flow cat (metal) and custom 2.5" madarel bent cat back system with S/S muffler (magnaflow), it works good for me, I have good power gains and nice sound so yeah still $500 left to spend on CAI hehe.

Baffled sump, oil cooler, purchase another set of wheels with semi slicks.

Sell the 17'' wheels and get the stock 15''
get better 15'' tyres
get good pads F&R
Change engine oil, gearbox oil, coolant, spark plugs and cable, Air-filter
Get aftermarket ecu and tune

that's about 2k?

Then try to get used to the car and the handling before further upgrade

Low budget – never going to get an ECU
#1 – Lightweight flywheel
#2 – Heavy-duty clutch
#3 – Lower final drive
#4 – Intake
#5 – Header + cat + cat-back system
#6 – Spec A camshafts / vernier adjustable cam pulleys

they should do you for nows, but its over your budget of 2k.

i'd prolly go HD clutch and lightened flywheel

then with the rest , get a jdm 4-1 header.

Get a good head unit and some semi slicks, get some brake pads if you have money left over.

1. heavy duty clutch & lighten flywheel
2. 15" or 16" rims with low profile tyres (17" too heavy/big for DC2)
3. Nology hotwire spark wire & NGK spark plugs
4. groundwire kit
5. get your stock throttle body ported
6. ARC intake pipe

those ended up should be less than $2000

get insurance

do a proper service

Then think about mods, depending on what your gonna do with the car.

Exhaust and CAI are the first things i would worry about when wanting more power.
Then get good tyres and pads. (should do it the other way round but u seem to be more interested in power)

do yourself a favor and get a good alarm if it hasnt already got one, you'd want to know you still have your recaros and other goodies after a few hours of shopping. hehehe

i would get definately a full exhaust might cost about $1200 for a good/average brand and with the rest 800 rougly would spend on a good CAI and rest to give it a good service should do the job..

not sure about this - good clutch and fly setup fo dc2r with be nearly 2gs + labour. ARC intake very exy too. get an american intake (aem, injen or comptech) they are much cheaper than jap ones and just as good. groundwire kit waste of time, but you can make you own for about $30 bucks out of amp cable

I'd recommend:

JDM header - 700
premade catback - 800
K&N in stock box (uses a pod anyway and feeds into front bar) - 120
swap 17's for 15s or 16s or even stock dc2r rims which are lite enkei (plenty of bling chasers who would be keen)
lowered springs (for the time being before coilover) or better pads (although stock dc2r brakes r great) - 350/400

quality parts make excelent power and last, crap parts dont, id go a mugen intake for a bit over $1000, save a little more and get a jap catback system $1000~1500, talk to people that have dc2r and workshops that actually know what they are doing

brand names dont always get you the power that you think you would. a mate with mugen intake/exhaust and toda headers actually pulled less than another mate with custom parts on both their R's. so spend your money wisely...
