Hey guys
I want to get an intake system basically I want the sound without losing power like I would by taking off the lid.
So the comptech intake seems like the best one out there but I hear a lot of fitment problems with these and not sure whether the kit is dodgy from the factory or it just hasnt been properly installed? I hear fitment problems even with the redesigned icebox?
Another is the PRM - it an american brand and I dont know where I can buy this in Aust.
What do you think?

Computech is well insulated, no metal pipes, well shielded. Should do the job nicely.
PRM would be nice and loud being a "trumpet", not sure how it would go in summer though.

Hi FLY
so you felt a bit of an improvement with the comptech yes? thats awesome because i was gonna be happy even if it didnt improve as long as it didnt lose power :)
So I should go for it you recon? what about the fitment issue? how did you go with yours? did you have to alter any part of the car at all to fit that?

mid range was abit better, the car just felt like it responded abit better but that could have all been in my head as the car was much louder lol
Fitment the comptech is abit of a pain as some of the holes dont line up. So i had drill additional holes to make it fit. Also the comptech limits the type of strut brace you can use if u intend to use it....cusco ones are fine from what i had.
Apart from that its the best bang for buck imo...pm hondar on these forums as he can bring them in :)

Why not just modify the std air box... This will give you what you're after.
Remove centre baffle & block reasonant chamber.(expanding foam works well)
Then remove the guide pipe (90deg) from inside the lid.
Re-assemble & you're done...
You'll get the sound you're after without any loss in power.
Cost almost zero...

I completed the modification Adrian has specified, it works well, response is improved, and the sound is projected a little more, especially towards the front of the vehicle.
I havent been able to give it a good test as its been pissing down.
Will post pics, I need to clean up the inner baffle with a dremel.

hey Jono, i've done that in my car already,
and it doesn't do much, maybe make it a tad bit louder. but thats it, it's definately not worth cutting up your stock airbox for.
it may be louder on the outside though.
the icebox is best bang for buck mod?! wow, it barely does a thing, our cars are really not mod friendly :)
get an ebay intake, thats best bang for buck:)

I would sooo get the comptech right now if it wasnt so fu#*n dodgy with the fitment- now that Ive read that even the redesigned models still have fitting problem- what a waste of time redesigning?
Id probably end up with one cos I cant think of any other :(

Ive ordered the comptech icebox, I will let you all know how it all goes :)
WhiteAP1- I also be getting the rad cap, fanswitch and thermostat- do you recon Mugen is the best one or Spoon/cusco/trust are as good because the mugen one is a pricier but not by much?
