hey i should of made a thread about this earlier its been a week since my car started playing up.. i hav a 97 integra.. i dont think the problem is model specific.. at first i was driving for 20 mins till all of a sudden my car starts to shake and feels like its gonna stall when i am accelerating.. most of the time if i just hammer it to 4k\5k + it goes smoothe again.. but then it happens whenever i go back down to low rpm.. and i been slack and kept driving it and now its gotten worse.. i can hear a squeeling sound when i drive.. my friend thinks its the fuel pump dying.. i am planning on taking it to a mechanic today but i wanna get some info so i dont rock up and be stooged cuz im not good with cars like u guys are.. so please help me ty

Do you use the Air Conditioner alot? The squeeling could be a loose A/C belt (just need to re-adjust it) and the loss of power could be an idle problem. Since the A/C takes some engine power at low revs, it could be amplifying the idle problem, which could be caused by worn spark plugs, a dirty throttle body, clogged fuel injectors, or possibly a distributor problem. I dont think its the fuel pump, they rarely fail - plus the fuel pump works fine at high revs.
ps. should be in the Technical section ;)

I guess that will depend alot on what the problem ends up being.... i'd probly take it to a mechanic, get them to atleast give any diagnosis of what THEY think it could be (providing they have a clue or will tell you without cash in hand)
If they have an idea, ask how much you looking at, tell them you will have to see how your cashflow is and then come back here once you know what the problem is or shop around for other prices for same job.

well i woke up to late so the mech couldn't take a look at it but he goes its probly the spark plugs.. so i went n bought some and the tool n shit and dont worry their was a shitload of drama's that went down when i had to put them in.. (dont buy bosch spark plugs fyi) they're crap. so yeh i changed my sparkies and the car was runnin smooth but still heating up on the meter.. i drove from nuna to springy on the way their it happened for most of the trip after it heated up.. but when i drove back it didn't happen at all again.. gonna hav to take it out again next time and suss it out if it has actually resolved the problem

sounds like a head gasket to me
there maybe a leak of coolant to the combustion chamber so when low rev the spark is not the strong so the engine will shake ( this happen to my LS)
and also maybe a leak in the exhaust gas to the cooling system so it heats up tthe meter, but this wont happen all the time
start the car up and open the radiator cap see any air bubble keep blowing up...
also look at the oil cap and cams form the hole see any serious white condensation on them...
as these are all the shit happen to my teg LS..end up blown engine...
