I checked with nrma and they rkn it will cost me ~$4000/year for nrma comprehensive cuz im <25 and haf had an at fault crash within past year :(.

I'm with Vigil Underwriting, but covered under modified car category...don't think you will able to insure your gsi with them though. I have a vtir and listed mods and pay $1400 a year. (rating 1)

i went through CGU. just car offered me about $950. most places do the DC5S for under $1k if you're rating 1. If I had a rating 6 it'd be $2000 -$2500.

wtf2k6, what car are you getting a quote for? a dc2 gsi or type r? Are you under 21? and what rating do you have? can't be rating 1 because of your accident.

Remember that were you park your car at night and during the day makes a difference.

I think you're better up calling the company rather than online quotes (although they're good for a guide) as they'll ask more questions and you'll get a more accurate value.

wtf2k6
12-09-2006, 05:12 PM
hmm but the thing is my parents have maximum no claim bonus for life and they are the policy holders. So i'm not sure how the at-fault crash I had will affect the premiums (when it comes to renewing the insurance policy - come feb-march 2007).

I'm looking at getting a dc2 gsi. im under 21 and I am on green p's .. with about 1.5 years of driving experience.

I would park it in garage as well at all times when im at home.

btw, what are some good insurance brokers that can get me a much better value than what I am currently finding on the internet?

not really... im 20 i paid 5.5k for my LS in april... no1 would insure me except just cars, and that was for 2800 (yes more than half) for comprahansive. no accident history, but 1 theft and recovered.
my old LS was insured with CGU for 75 per month (~900 a yr) for comprahensive, and i only paid 4.5k for the car... however i did get paid out 6k when it was stolen.
im afraid 2 get quotes now that i got the spray job and bigger rims commin on

JustCar is part of AAMI and they deal with all the sports cars for under 25 so AAMI will just tell you to call them.

They are one of the more popular insurance companies for under 25's with turbo cars because their yearly cost is reasonable, but keep in mind that their excess *may* be more than a company charging $100 extra yearly.

Insurance company quote you on whats the car is really worth, your age, how long you have held your liscence for, your driving record history. If you insure under your parent's name, it can be confusing because its all depends on the insurance company's policy. Some insurance company dont allow you to insure your car under your parent's name. Some however allow you to insure your car (the car is registered under your name) under your father's name but there's a few negative side to this, like I said before its depends on their policy so you got to really know what they are first before you take it down. They will quote u based on the main driver or the youngest driver of that car, so say you are 18, they will quote you as the main driver for the car eventhough it is really under your parent's name, some insurers will give u credit ratings after each year so your premium will go down but some dont count u in as part of that, thats one bad thing about insuring under your parents name. It is gerenally best to insure your car under your name

insurance premiums have a huge variance from region to region... with Sydney being the most expensive by a long way. I guess Sydney has higher rate of claims than the other cities.

nrma quoted me $7700/year to insure my integra for 11k. :)

And for some reason it's now down to $2300. I don't know wtf is going on with them....

wow, insurance cost in Melbourne and Sydney is so high because of more thefts? i'm under 25 and my DC5S is $800 per year. my friend pays $900 for his s15 and he's also under 25. I figure, if we were in sydney it'd be 1500-2000.
