Demirit Points

Just a n00b question here.

I recently discovered i have 3 demirit points.

Does this mean im 3 points away from loosing my licence?

Or does this mean i have 9 points left?

Im on my blacks and initally had 12 points

demerit means minus points
so therefor u have -3 points

which means u have 9 left -______-

im pretty sure it counts up as well

when u get a fine the number for points indicated, means that u have collected points
in ur case u have collected 3 points and have 9 points left to collect before u lose ur license

It doesn't matter if you count up, down, sideways or inside out.

After you accrue fines totalling 12.. units of punishment, you lose your license :)

Problem is there is no such thing as 'points' left on a licence.

All that counts is demirit points, if you get to 12 then you have no licence left.

Sure there is. If you define them as the ammount of demerit points you can accrue before you lose your license.

Picking people up on semantics is beyond pedantic. Theres no reason to psych up whenever someone mentioned having points left, we all know what they mean :)

lol nah the RTA changed the demerit points scheme this year or something...

we USED to have a total of 12 points on our licence, and if u lose more than 12 ur licence is gone...

but now they start off from 0 points, and if u exceed 12 points then ur licence is goneskies...

You start of on 0 yes, but if you hit 12 OR exceed it, then its an automatic 3 month suspension.
