mechanic might have stuffed up the timing belt install...

Does the car try to start at all???

Check your dizzy first. My friend had a similar thing happen to him. Was driving on the freeway, suddenly the engine just cut out. Coasted to the side. NRMA came and just pulled off the dizzy cap, wiped it a bit and the car started again and reached home without problem.

check dizzy and coils ,you will be suprised how coils will not give you spark if they are stuffed even tho they look to be perfectly fine , check coils :D

sounds like the ICM.

probably starts ok when its cooled down.

but check the PGMFI relay 1st as its also a common problem with the same symptoms. and is free to fix

if the timing belt snaped, then wouldnt u hear whining n screaching while it dies? cause thats wen the valves n shit are bending.

the engine just stops. its a rather quick process.
