It looks like the first one has been in a accident, either that or the pics arnt of the same car. The lights and reflectors in the front bar are diffrent colours. In one pic it amber and the other one it's clear. The clear ones are aftermarket lenses and I don't think anyone would replace the stock ones for no reasion.
The second one would be my pic of the two, the colour is better, got a decent stero and it's cheeper. I would have a very close look at the pain job through, he only paid $1k for it and you get what you pay for with things like that. Might be to cover up some rust or a bad 'bog' job.
If it were me I would look around a bit more and get a vtir manual.

vtir manual aint cheap, nor in that price range. Seems like he's after a car for <10g? i dont like ne of them. first 1, like Filo_xtc01 said, itz been in an accident. 2nd 1, itz done 200k kms. I noe most pplz says ks doesnt matter, but i just get paranoid about it and so is alot of other pplz, which would make it really hard to resell. And i dont recomemd buying an old car as such, because even if the engine hasnt done many ks, other mechanical things will start to go wrong, eg. sunroof, elect mirrors, AC, fans, etc. they dont last forever. so maintenance will be much higher than a new car. also, since car is older, more fuel consumption. i would say, onli get an old sports onli if itz worth worth worth it and thats the onli car u want all your life. not just becuase itz a cheapER sports.

as both ppl have said neither looks worth byeing......but both may be worth a look for a bit of practice as long as he can controll himself......the best thing he can do when he does find one worthwhile is make sure he gets the checks done and double check some things.....such as the second car jsut peaking its 200k mark....thats jsut in time for the second 100k service whcih the previous owner might have deemed more expensive than its worth paying...as i found with the nice lies i was fed when i bought my 5th gen......but mainly make sure he doesnt get his heart set on anything to soon......the rite car will come around for the price he is asking as long as he has the patience to wait and check out the decent ones untill he finds it
