Ridicule at will, it doesn't bother me.

But is it possible to use one of those big dragway shifters for my fwd stock gearbox?

i just reckon they look mad, and i wanna shift like vin diesel at the end of fast and the furious. :)

like such

Street legalities? If its illegal to replace a manual gear knob if the new one doesnt have numbers on the top, me thinks that a shifter which doesnt have an indicator as to what gear is where, and what you're in, itd be illegal for street use.

dont think it would be illegal...as it shifts up and down?
besides whats the chances of seein this on a street legal Car?
very low as many cars which pull the 6-9 sec mostly have them...and most are used on the drag circuit anyways

Yeah, it shifts up and down, but as there would be no indicator as to what gear you are currently in, how are you supposed to know wether you are in P, D, 1, 2, 3, or R? If a manual isnt allowed for unlabelled shifters (and its pretty damn easy to tell where the gears are) then i highly doubt this shifter would be street legal.

they've actually got an indicator of what gear you're in.

If your car has a cable auto box, then why not? Just get the "P, R, N, D, 3, 2, L printed out on some plastic stockers at Kenko or something and stick it next to the shifter to make it legal. $267 for the shifter is not bad when you consider that we are paying $200 for a Honda DC2R gear knob.
