ey guys,
k my mate has a 5 inch tacho with a shift light, he doesnt want the shift light and i now have it, all i want to know is, is it possible for me to somehow install this shift light so it flashes wen vtec kicks in, i think it has only got 2 wires behind it, if this is possible could sum1 tell me how to do it, i drive a 1994 honda accord vti.

You can adjust what rpm you want to "shift" at on the shift light right? So just set it at the rpm that your vtec engages.

na i dont think so, all i know is this light is of a tacho with a few wires hangin of the back

Should be possible...... similar wiring to those aftermarket VTEC indicators would be needed I guess.

The question is why would you want to subject your car to such tasteless modifications.... oh well... each to their own!

I'm pretty sure there has to be rpm variation on it. Unless the rpm setting was part of the tacho which you didn't get. They usually have a "pill" thing you stick in which sets the rpm.

If it dosn't have rpm variation on it then you've probably just got the light part. Hook 12v up to the two wires and see if it comes on. If this is the case I think you can splice into the vtec solonoid wire at the ecu (purple wire below) for the positive and hook the other up to ground. Might need a resistor in there aswell depending what sort of light it is.

yes, vtec disengages at a different point than when it engages. about 2-300rpm lower
