View Full Version : K20A engine swap into a em1
Has anyone done a K20A DC5R engine swap into their civic?
and if so did you use the HASPORT engine mounts in, along with their custom drive shafts?
Or did u just try to bolt the DC5R strut, cross member, modify the civic mounts etc....
i have all the running gear/computer wiring loom
This is the link im going off for the conversion

either hasport or hybrid racing should be able to provide you with all of part needed for the swap.
go to the www.honda-tech.com (http://www.honda-tech.com) (there's a swap guide) or www.k20a.org (http://www.k20a.org)
Where did u get ur engine and how much?

theres quiet a bit involved. Use hasport mounts for sure.
Be careful what axles you buy, some of them are known for being weak. Get at least a stage 2.
You can also use a stock axle combo combining b-series outers with K-series inners.. Alternatively if you have a JDM 98+ ITR Brake upgrade you could use the stock K-series axles as the hub on this brake setup is 36mm which is the same sizee as the K-axles..
You will need other things like.. ECU, PnP harness, fuel setup, clutch line, headers, custom intake and custom exhaust etc etc..
try out k20a.org for sure :)

5k for installation sounds too much. Installation for b is ranging from 1k - 2k and k swap is very similar to b swap (a bit more works though).

Its a little different to a B.. you can even use stock mounts on some b-swaps.
I agree, $5k does sound expensive if its just labour expenses though.

I got a DC5R (whole) from an unfortunate roll over:eek: from a mate

Ur on the money! Thanks
yeah i was just assuming the brakes/hubs from the k should just bolt on....
How come they moved it onto the noob forum.
I know it possible to do the conversion, was just wondering if any one used/combined parts from both cars instead of buying custom ones available.
Like trying to bolt the DC5 sub frame onto the civic using both engine mounts from both cars etc... from just looking at the egine bay it looks like it possible but do it is a different story i guess.
With the exhaust i think we'll just try and cut it/modify it..........
haven't really had time to strip/look at the thing properly yet
yeah the easy/expensive way would be to just order everything from hasport in the states and bolt everything on. like the engine mounts, drive shaft, headers, send the engine harness to get re-wired etc....
the www.jdm-theory.com site does look pretty good but mainly pics only
thanks for the input guys

Have u been in the civic after the conversion?
how does it drive?
Did they have any problems or mechanical problems after the conversion?
thanks

Im pretty sure the DC5 brake/sussy setup will not work on your EM1.
