I know theres a billion threads on it but I just have a few questions.
I will definately need an engineers certificate correct?
In order to get one I will definately need to swap the rears from drums to discs correct? (going to do it anyway, but want to know if I can go for engineers certificate with drums)
What things do I need to do in order to pass / receive one? (besides converting the brakes)?
What about a blue slip, will I need one? From what i've read I will need one.
How much do both of these cost?
When going for blue slip / engineers certificate, what things will they be looking at? Are they pretty hard on everything? How long does the process take?

nah..
wait was yours orginally a 1.3 or 1.5?
you can either go up 15 or 20 percent of your engine capacity, without getting it engineered, all you ahve to do is get a blueslip, confirming that the engine is not stolen, etc.

yeh it originally was 1.5 now its 1.6.
so no engineers certificate required? only blue slip?

nops no engineers cert needed.
just go get a blue slip.
that's what i did, when i upgraded from a 1.5 to a 1.6

cool thanks mate.
so whats involved when i go to get my blue slip?
My cars currently out of rego so i assume i'll need to get the blue slip before I can get rego.

how long has your car been out of rego for?
your allowed 3 months out of rego, within those 3 months you can still get a pink slip for roadworthyness, after 3 months is a blue slip, which is a hassle.
so if it's within the 3 months, you get a pink and blue slip for engine conversion.
if it's out of the 3 months, you get a blueslip for the engine coversion and roadworthyness, but make sure your car is up to scratch, becuase the blueslips for rego is a very detailed inspection, and apparently takes hours.

fark, i think its just past or close to 3 months.
i'll check asap.
wont i need blue slip either way though?

the blue slip for engine conversion, is easy, they just check that the engine is fine and not stolen.
but if you need a blue slip for roadworthy it's a c-unt to get it. lol, your car has to be in tip top condition, as it's alot more indepth inspection, they go over the whole car.

ah shit ok, i just gotta pray that my rego hasn't expired for more than 3 months.
can I get a blue slip from anywhere or does it have to be a specific place?

as long as it's in the range of 15% or 20% one of those i cna't remember, but quite sure it's 15%, all you have to do is get a blueslip, that's what i was told, by the rta and the person doing my blueslip

Yeah,its 15%.
I went from 1590cc > 1797cc, only needed blue slip
If I put the less powerful GSi (1834cc) motor in, I would of had to get it engineered cos its 15.3%...........go figure........

lol
I have the 1797cc in.
But i had to prove it wasnt a GSi motor at first to get it passed, cos the guy was confused over his integra motors.Had to find a copy of the service manual & take it down to him.

Yeah,lol.
Was arguing over 37cc of less powerful motor, when the car was sitting there on 17 x 7 rims ,uncaptive springs, crease in the front guard lips from where the tyres were hitting & a brake pedal that went occassionly to the floor.
To the thread starter, blue slip only about $50 or something(i didnt pay for it,but its about that much)
You need to find a RTA approved inspection station or mechanic.Ask your mechanic, they usually know all the good ones like mine.
