hi all honda ppl hope you can help out a newbie

well here is the story: i have found an unregistered 1987 gen 2 crx without sunroof :) but the problem is that it needs an engineering certificate to pass rego.

the engine is a jap spec b16a with very hot camshafts and is supposed to put out 180-190 hp. it also has adjustable cam timing, Vtech air-ratio fuel gauge and controller and dual sports exhaust if that makes any difference.

i was just wondering how much it would cost for an engineering certificate, and if it needs anything else for it to pass eg: better brakes. has anybody had this done before???

btw it also needs an air filter, new springs (to bring height up), and smaller wheels for it to pass rego, so if anybody is selling stock spring, wheels or a decent legal filter i would be glad to buy it off you!!!

Just take it to a place that do those engineer's reports and get them to check your car out ??

The report will depends where you go.
upgrading brakes would be a wise choice to accomodate for the extra power that you have

Not trying to be a slackass but shouldn't your mate or whoever did the work speak to an engineer before he started the work on the car?

For a start, every engineers see things a bit different - some might think a brake upgrade is simply a rotor/pads change but some engineers might think probably bigger calipers/rotors is needed.

....

Probably gonna cost you $500 upwards to have that sort of report done and might take a while as well for them to measure/test things out.

Look up the white pages for this company called TIC (they're right across the road from Hills Motorsport) they've been in the games for quite a long time.
