Anyone got any photos of how to mount 6.5" speakers to the door?

I remove the cover, the place only can fit a 5.25... thinking of mounting a 6.5" to the door. I want to make it look original as possible...

I think this is about as good as you are going to get http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13092&highlight=speaker.

Depending on speaker depth you may be able to somehow sqeeze in a 6.5" if you do some cutting and some custom fabrication, though i don't think you will be able to fit on behind the grill.

Maybe its best to go with 5.25" if you want to keep it looking stock, or get some pods.

Good luck with it.

Looking at EK9's car, the whole door panel will vibrate like hell once you power speakers with 100w rms or so...

The photos does give me some idea how to proceed though, probably will cut the whole pastic bit out, then mount a baffle on to the metal frame itself and thats where the speaker will sit, instead of the panel. Just wonder if it will fit once the door panel goes back into the door.

a 6" (16cm) speakers would fit, you would make up an MDF surround/fitting ring for each speaker for the install.

6.5" speakers may fit, depending on the design/exact diameter of the speaker itself but can get tricky/need a fair bit of custom work. Unless you have your heart set on something that only comes in 5.25" or 6.5" such as the Bostons and Focals. You would make your life easier with a set of 6"s.

I recently installed a pair of Pioneer yellow cones splits in my EG, where I initially wanted a pair of Focal Polyglass 6.5". I'm very pleased with their natural sounds. While they are a few notches away from the Dynaudio 240GT in my C Class in terms of absolute sound quality, they were easy to install with decent mid bass and power efficent.

It's not too hard to fit 6.5" Speakers into civic doors. You may need to do a bit of modifying by cutting the plastic or even the door but it's not a major job.
