I have recently bought a late 04 euro lux and new to this site and have been searching for a simular discussion.

I assume many other euro drivers have the same head unit issue.

Does anyone know what i can do to modify the head unit and put in a lcd screen in.
I know of a fitting on ebay which u can buy to replace the storage space below the orginal head unit, i dont like this because i loose one of the biggest storage spaces in the dash and i will end up with two cd's players but is this the only way to change the head unit?
If so can the functions of the original head unit be easily transferred onto the new lcd head unit.

If anyone has any related pictures to this issue please send them to ecompagnon@optusnet.com.au.

thanx,
carmella

There is a replacement for the actual "headunit" so you won't lose the storage space jsut below it, although you do lose the use of dualzone climate control. for more details read: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50777

If you're only after adding in amps/sub/speakers and don't want to get a deck, have you considered LOC's (Line Out Converters)?
LOC's bassically converts the high level inputs into RCA's so then you can add in amps, they do have their downside though such as the possibility of noise and lack of adjustability although Rockford Fosgates 3SIXTY and JL Audio's Cleansweep have the adjustability they cost an arm and a leg...

i got the one below the stock head unit, depending on the screen you get, it will actually hit the audio button, and you can't view the screen fully, the deck i have is a alpine iva-d310e, i have to make a custom mod so i can view it fully

the picture above changes your old stock with the new one...i personally don't like it and think it looks ugly

What you think about the top dash mount?

Does anyone know where to get them??

So your possible options are
1) Change your stock deck with this and then purchase a single din dvd/mp3 player. I personally don't like it....looks tacky.

2) Change it with this and buy a single din dvd/mp3, which is what i did. But my alpine iva-d310e hits the audio button and the screen cannot be viewed fully. However i have seen other brands not hit the audio button. Another thing you can do is bring out the actual deck closer to the gear knob (which it won't hit) but that would look ugly. Also you can use your stock audio player as a 6 cd stacker.

3) From what i can see it is only the screen. There is no source unit for you to play dvd's. So then you would have to go back to Option 2, install a source unit (doesn't have to be a dvd player), which connects to the screen on top of your dash and vola.

Another option would be option 2 just a source unit that allows you to play dvd's with no screen, but have screens set up around your car. Some places you can put them are

Yet another option would be to get Nav installed into your car which allows you to use dvd's but thats is really going to hit your bank account

a) Where your sunglasses compartment is
b) Behind the driver and passenger head rest
c) Those make up mirrors for passenger and the driver (forgot wat they called)

hope it helps
