Sorry, I know its not a Honda but...has anyone seen one of these? 5dr hatch, sporty 2ltr DOHC producing 100kw @ 5600rpm and 188Nm and weigh 1193kg. Damn, this baby is looking like a pretty decent alternative to an EG Si or VTi. According to redbook, it pulls 0-100 in 8.4 compared to a 96 VTi-R which does 8.6.
Anybody have any opinions on these suckers? I stumbled across this whilst searching (always searching) for hot EG hatches...
PS. The one I'm referring to is a '96, supposedly Holden are bringing out a hot Astra GSi in '05
PPS. They want $12.5k for it, not bad not bad

If you are thinking that the astra can keep up with a Vti-R think again..... I have my doubts about those 0-100 times too..... they would closer to 9.5-9.8 secs

Heavy buggers, but they look so much nicer than anything in the Civic range nowadays. Personally I like the Astra Turbo (SRi ???). It looks a million dollars and has some potential.

Sorry to break it to some of you but we are talking about the old astra from the mid 90's..... not the current shaped astra.

all i know is the new range of astras go well!!! however the astra have one of the sh*ttest handling cars for a small car IMO ... floaty as hell
+ the astras don't have much capacity for modification ... not far you can go with them modification wise ...

Rode in a friend's Astra coupe - NA version. Looked a million $ with nice wheels etc - no rear legroom - even for a shortarse like me though. It felt tight when cornering, but had rattles already :S Dunno if that was a one off or not - but most small cars seem to develop rattles

Oh come on, I find it hard to believe that every second person has chopped an Astra GSi (not a regular TR/TS Astra) in their Civic. I drove my first EG Si yesterday (test drive for private sale) and it was modded with CAI and exhaust, and I was shocked: absolute slug!
As was mentioned, we are NOT talking about the current throng of Astra's, nor SRi's which cost much more.
the SRi turbo is pretty slow guys..... i test drove one for a friend once and its so heavy, and the turbo lags like hell.....

Its the modified ones which screw you over......
I've done a few stock ones, but a decent intake and full exhaust w/ split dump sees them up a few levels...

In my experience (not much) the astra GSi's are pretty good for what they are. There german bulilt (opel) and some countries they come out in a 2L turbo, n they look pretty hot too. Do a search for opel kadett 200is
