i know what you mean steve, but, having said that, not every ek4 that's been at WSID has ran a sub 15 1/4..

like when i ran my time, i had 89mph, and ran 14.9, zco prob has a freak b16a cos hes stock standard with intake and doing 91mph!

it's just about being smart and preparing for the track, and with the right tips, freak times can be done :P

Good job dude just practice those take off's and you will go a little bit quicker,a smart driver will run very good 1/8th mile times with low mph in a under powered FWD car so forget about the top speed just work on that first half of the track and the ET's will improve.
Regards Dyno Dave

oh by stock I mean full factory, no stripping and on normal gas...

i have some shitbox tyres that were lying around . 15" at the front/. 14" on the rear. driver seat only. no spare tyre. i adjusted my suspension. and had an intake. other than that, nothing else was done. running on shell optimax98. no nos or octane booster.

standard clutch and flywheel. using all standard OEM HONDA oils & still running both power steering and airconditioning units, still the standard bonnet

my aim yest night was a low 15. i would have sold my car if i ran a 17.XX coz i think thats just shameful.. it was my first time dragging EVER! and i came back with a 18.00 AHHA

zco
21-09-2006, 11:57 AM
hahaha no thanks elim ! rev limiter is at 8200 rpm

dumping at 6k is what got me the 18.045
first ever run, lgihts move so fast, adrenalin, panic'ing, dumped at 6k rpm, spun like shit, then let revs dropped too mcuh so i double clutched, then clutch was slipping bigtime, so i justlet it roll like 10metres down the road, so shameful, then vtec'd it for the rest of the 385 or so meters in shame

Look at the difference setting up properly did. You ran the same time in an unpowered EK4 as the guy from perth with the B18C in lighter EG shape.

zco
21-09-2006, 03:29 PM
^^ yehh. i wanted to set up properly coz i would have been kicking myself if i ran a 15.001 with street trim. removing that excess weight saves lots o time. trying to imagine how mcuh weight i would save if i didnt have sunroof/PS/AC

destrukshn

practice practice practice.....

get that 60ft time down lol.... my best 60ft from last night was 2.11...-street legal tyres

zco
21-09-2006, 07:28 PM
alot of semi's out there that are street legal. but no point using those semi's as my car doesnt make that much power.

practice is what i will do, just hope i can find some nice g3/t1r tyres to practice with instead of those no name ones i have

one question - why is my mph on the 14.790 run, slower than the one from the 14.954 run. i had a better 60ft tho.. :(

fatboyz39
21-09-2006, 07:38 PM
your 60ft time setups your ET....

So better 60ft, better ET, lower speeds.

could you tell me what the temp was like?? its on the slip, just curious to know the difference, also was that later on in the night??
hey one last thing when you were launching how hard were you revving it?? just couldnt seem to stop mine from bogging down,
thanks man, and again Congrats on the awesome time, hope to race ya soon.

LOL ! this thread is olddd. the temp's are all on the slips
the fast runs were towards the end of the night. i came back the next week and ran 14.8 first run. then car wouldnt handle the next 2 runs so i pulled out for the entire night.
race me ? i dont own this car no more. if you want to race, then just beat my time with another standard EK4 + sussy+ intake :)

or you can race my new EK1 if you want. LOL

thats crazy man. my mate had a modded 5 litre VN commodore which was hell fast,,for example it beat BA xr6 turbos and stuff, which are pretty quick,, and he only ran like 15.1 at 146kph. mind you the air temp for him was 35+ degrees at quit motorplex in perth,, does 15 or so degrees really make that much difference?

Damn, my Air Temp at 9:30pm was still up at 23 degrees, and the track Temp was still at 32 degrees, and the rel humidity was 78, i think if it had of been the same as yours 19, 29 & 38, only a little different i may have dipped into the 14's, i wouldnt have cared if it had of been a 14.9999999999 it still would have been a 14 sec 1/4, maybe i need to lose some weight, i am 100kg, bring it down to 80Kg and i am sure it will help, LOL,

I Know my car very well, i have had it for over 3 years, love it,
ZCO you said you had aftermarket suspension? Tein HA??
that would make a difference in the launch and the whole characteristics of the car, not so much bounce when changing gears, it would make a difference not much but a little, suspension means alot in a cars characteristics,
My car is fully trimmed in Leather, my car would weigh more than a standard civic, not much but some more weight,

And what difference did it make in times???
Ive never reduced the weight of any of my rides and im so close to 13s NA,
Im tempted to crack a 13 that way lol:)

grumpy rooster
27-02-2007, 10:36 AM
From experience take out as much weight as you can. Reducing weight is HEAPS cheaper than doing mods (cause its free) and makes a huge difference. Think about how much your passenger and rear seats weigh for instance. Take out everything you don't need and see what time you run compared to previous outings. You will see your mph increase and your ET fall.

All it takes is a little time.

BlitZ
27-02-2007, 01:16 PM
i dont think it takes that much skill for the 1/4 unless you are really into the 12's or somehting... at best your skills will give u a .4 at the 14-16's mark from the very best to the almost worst driver (provided they are the same weight)

EKNR33

Blitz: I tend to disagree with you on 1/4 mile doesn't take much skill.

My mate in his Twin Turbo Supra 1996 model 6spd with fmic/exhaust 214rwkw.

First outing at WSID he ran:
14.4 and 14.2 best the whole night! with average of 2.3 60ft

The Second outing last wednesday at wsid he ran:
13.7 with a 2.0 60ft (NO CHANGES AT ALL TO ANYTHING)

So just with practice thats 0.5sec over the qtr mile without any changes just the same driver with some additional skill/practice.

(Keep in mind that Stock Standard Twin turbo supras should run 13.9 or there abouts with a experienced driver)

my 2cents.

I agree with Blitz to a degree... anyone can get lucky with a one off.

When you run the same 60' time and time again, and they're decent, then you're doing alright IMO. I've always felt that the skill is in the consistancy...
