10w-30. Honda FEO.
You can also use 0/5/10w-40. Castrol Edge 0w-40 is pretty good for the price.

I run 5w30 in my 96 CRX.

I used to run 10w40 but found it was a little to loud on startup so i changed to 5w30.

btw, welcome

chosing a good oil is a major contributor to your engine's performance and longetivity.

you can chose the viscosity from this chart:

Make sure you use an oil that says "API service SG or SH", this oil is formulated to help your engine use less fuel.
as you can see 5-30 is not recommended in 40C heat in the summer. 10-40 would be the best way to go during winter, and 20-50 during summer.

Chart's not valid for an EK4 as it runs a b16a.

That chart is also out of date as the API ratings are now up to SL. I think SG/SH was the most current at the time that manual was produced.

B16A, use 10w-30 as well.

If you used Mobil1 silver, that's 5w-50. Your clearances would be widened now and if you went back to 10w-30, you'd start to leak oil past the oil control rings.

Mobil1 Gold (10w-30) is the one you should have used.

I'd go to 10w-40 (or 0w-40/5w-40) first and see if you have any oil consumption. Eventhough it's 5w-50, it's still many many many times better than running with an oil level below minimum.

Does your b16a have forged pistons? These need a slightly thicker oil for clearance.

If your engine is not giving you problems now, then stick to Mobil1 silver.

How do you know your vtec solenoid is stuffed???

Isn't vtec engaging?? VTEC is oil dependant so it may have something to do with your oil.

In all seriousness if you can afford it, buy the Top Secret Fusion range of fluids for your car, they work miracles, I know...

No vtec is dependent on oil pressure/water temp/rpm. Running a thicker oil will increase compression, it will make the car sluggish but not cause it not to work

Your car drinks wine. My car drinks beer. LOL. How much is that? I'm on my last bottle of Formula R, so I need to stock up.

5w-30 is hydrocracked, 0w-40 is polyalphaolefin (PAO).

Both protect well. 5w-30 will break down first. But 0w-40 doesn't stick to metal surfaces that well so in the morning there won't a as thick a film as the 5w-30. I've used both.
