not really, no. i had a k & n one in for a while and found it no different. i also dont see the point of the k & n ones, theyre about $125, and you have to keep oiling them all the time, and washin them. factory one achieves the same cfm rate, is only $25, and you can just throw it away and buy a new one when it gets shitty

are you just putting the pod on the end of your stock piping, or do you have something aftermarket inbetween the filter and the tb?

the main thing that will improve the sound is removing the bottom half of the air box and the resonator.

mm... ive got a after market intake pipe. but i think that cops will get me for that too -.- atm im thinking of taking the resingnator out and putting my pod downt here but for da9z im not sure where i can get a cold air feed from as theres not much space. :thumbdwn: removing the bottom half of my airbox how would i make the pannel filter stick to the top? and would cops notice that the bottom half is missing due to sagging? cos with the stock airbox i cant hear vtec kick in (its really soft) but with the pod + intake piping it roars and u can clearly hear the crossover.

i just drilled some small holes in the plastic section of the panel filter, and in the outer tabs of the upper half of the air box, then cable tied them together. doesnt allow any air in other than through the filter, holds it in perfectly, and looks stock. ill take some photos tomorrow if you like.

imo, cold air intake is overrated, as long as your filter isnt being restricted it doesnt matter, when your car is moving you will get plenty of cool air in naturally through the bumpers. when youre stationary and getting hot air, why does it matter, youre not trying to accelerate anyways..

the intake doesnt sag much at all without the bottom half, ive never had any trouble, but then again i have never been asked to open my bonnet because my car is basically.

i would try the cable tie idea with a panel filter, as it is cheap. i do not have vtec, but i get a very nice, and quite loud sound from this setup

if youre not satisfied with that, use a pod and either put it down into your front bumper (you will probably have to remove some of the annoying plastic panels in the front of the wheel arch), or build a box around the pod so its enclosed.

picks would be great.. as im probally gonna do the stock look. dont have money for defects =[.. whats a nice excuse to tell the cops when the find out i have a missing bottom half of my airbox lol.

well if i were you, id give the stock intake piping a go, since youre going to stay with the stock air box (well at least the top of it) at the end of the day you are restricted by the size of your TB, so theres not much point having piping significantly better than that.

with stock intake piping, and stock top airbox, i very much doubt any cop would even look further.

your other option would be to molest the bottom half of the airbox, ie remove it completely, so its just the sides, would look even more stock but not restrict the air flow.

as for excuses, tell them it was like that when you bought it, y0!

ill get some pics for you tomorrow

when i installed mine i found a nice induction noise at higher rpm and slightly improved throttle response. i found it overall better than a factory filter...

^ im not that skilled. although it might seem easy for some members of OH it could be hard for others. Btw will i tried your way of doing my airbox. it sounds louder but it still sounds like nothing compared to my pod. and u car hear to crossover but its not very loud at all. Ive gotten quotes for a heatsheild, but i dont know how to put it together. not really good with "making" stuff, also some people still say its a defect even if u have a heatshield? Panda did it make a difference in your vtec cross over? how does it sound compared to a pod.

here are some pics of how mine is set up.

plenty of people will tell you about what they perceive is better in regards to the panel filter, but they ignore the FACT that the stock filter has a higher CFM. the k & n will maintain its CFM far better over time, but the fact remains that the stock one flows better.
