is this true??

if your car is taking off slow in gear 1 .. and feels like it has no power..
means that your clutch is nearly worn out.. ?

and if you change your clutch to an aftermarket Heavy Duty clutch

would it make your car take off faster in gear 1 ??

thanks =)

yes it is.. well one of the indications of ur clutch bein worn out is when ur pedel starts to go harder then usual and when u said "if your car is taking off slow in gear 1 .. and feels like it has no power.." thats could be ur clutch slippin cause its worn out, and it will feel like the revs just go up as u accelerate and the car doesnt move much.
and yes ur car will take off faster with a new aftermarket hd clutch cause it will grip onto the flywheel.

if ur lookin for a new clutch.. it would probably be wise to invest in a lighter flywheel as well as some solid engine mounts... u cant go wrong with these upgrades

the friction point also goes higher than usual

push clutch in, and release real quick - if it takes a while to grip then yes, its getting worn :)

but yes, it usually does start to feel heavier, and like its sluggish.

take it to a empty strip or road, while cruising, floor it in 3rd, if your REV jumps up and backs down again and you feel ur car not gona any faster, then ur clutch is gone

hey peepz, im thinking of getting a heavy duty clutch..

does the heavy duty clutch have the same amount of friction point as the standard clutch???

coz if less, than more chance of stalling, then i may change my mind and get standard clutch replacement ;(

When you release the clutch your car will feel like it wants to move sooner, more eagerly.

hmm, just curious... if your clutch shows signs of slippage/worn, is it still o.k to drive the car hard?

Certainly the way to go to test, its how i test a car i'm buying

If it stalls then your clutch is fine. If you think its got a problem then have a mechanic check it out also.

Slipping clutch just means the clutch is wearing. The damage, if you drive too much after is that you won't be able to engage/disengage the gears and crunching will start to happen. Finally you will ruin the gearbox.

Initial slipp will not damage the car, but can be dangerous when driving as you can't predict the starting and take-off of the car. Just something to be careful of.

don't dump the clutch
edge it off slowly, if you can get some decent speed then ur clutch is cool

Actually, if you manage to take off in 5th, that means your clutch is slipping already. Even releasing it slowly, your engine should stall in 5th.

You're meant to ride it to take off in 5 seconds or so. Not longer. If longer, all you are doing is slipping the clutch and even a good clutch is able to take off in 5th.

when i take off in gear 1.. i go up to 20km/h then i change to gear 2... and oh my god.. that time whilst the speed goes up to 20km/h is soo slow.. it pisses me off.. like my car doesnt move much.... it just revs hard.. and my exhaust goes RMmm loud.. but it doesnt speed up ..... not until i put on gear 2 den speed it up more.. den to 3rd.. and its fine ... just hate starting soo slow..

What is your RPM at 20km/h? Does the tachometer just rev up while the speedo doesn't move? If it does, then your clutch is worn out.

the speedo moves ... but very slowly.. but when i put it to gear 2 onwards.. it moves alright...

but wat i do now.. i dun even bother going much with gear 1..

i put on gear 1 for like 1 second.. when it reach 10km/h i switch to gear 2.. and so on..

bcoz from 10km/h to 20km/h on gear 1 takes ages.. like the car doesnt move the way i want it to.. n e wayz no probs..

i took my car to da mechanic dis morning.. and getting the clutch replaced.. i will go pick up my car later after i finish uni...

i asked for a normal clutch replacement.. as im not too confident with heavy duty.. coz im a noob manual driver...

so well see if my car is faster later today when i get my car back..

hehehe
=)

but i also heard when u put new clutch in u gotta drive it easy for the first 1000km.. or sumfing like dat.... =(

i dunno man.. i dun haf a tacho.. i feel da engine.. mines ek1

but hey i just got home with my new clutch..

its a normal one..

and its soooooo light man... even lighter than my old clutch..

and i was told my old clutch felt a bit heavier bcoz its worn out..

so dis is da real deal... dis clutch is soo light.. i hate dis feeling..

i kinda like the worn out heavier feeling.. which i was then told would be the HD clutch feel... fark... when i push da clutch in... it doesnt push itself back out.. i gotta use muscles and make my feet get off the clutch.. arghh

i should of listened to da mechanic and gone HD ..

ohh it only felt realli light when i first picked up the car..
after driving it for a day.. it feels normal again..

and i like it !!!.. and yeah it accelerates normal now...
goes faster !!!!!!!!!!!

no more lagging behind !!! i changed lanes today and accelerated fast so da car behind me wont hit me... and it went realli realli fast my car... took off fast in gear 1.. where as i wouldnt of even dare to change lanes with my old clutch coz it doesnt take off dat fast.. and is slow like a turtle.. so a car would probably hafto break hard to avoid hitting me ... lol.. but now i can do fast swift movements without slowing down traffic.. soo happy =)))))))
