How much is an engine mount usually cost? i just went to the machanic a week ago and he told me my rear engine mount is broken and they have to order the part from japan cause Honda dont have any in stock...he quoted me 300 bux for labor and part..is this normal? dont want to get ripp off

Noob questions...where is the rear engine mount located? and what cause it to crack?

(can admin move this to technical section)

Engine mounts loose their flexibility over time (10+ years)
Engine mounts cost about 60-80 for the rear; That's about what.. 4 hours of labour he's quoting you. mind you, 80 isn't trade cost either.

"rear engine mount broken" ???

you have an engine in the rear of your teg?? or maybe you just drive in reverse.. lol jks.

but yeah seriously, have you ever seen one of these engine mounts replaced before, its an absolute bitch to do. so they are probably quoteing you 2 or more hours of labour which would be right....

I live in Melbourne, I don’t think hanny can do mine.

Thanks for the input guys, I’m just making sure that I don’t get rip off since I don’t know anything about cars, I’m getting my mount replace at Goodyear so I hope they do a good job.

^^^also if you get the aid of a another member to remove/install, may i suggest you solid fill the mount yourself with sikaflex 252 from bunnings... costs less than $20 and can do 2 full mounts.

sika 227 is softer though

whats that??

sikaflex = polyurethane

the number is the hardness rating.... beats paying for new oem mounts from the $tealer$hip or even the brand mount inserts when this option is so much cheaper AND easier as you don't have to pay for pressing either.

it's better to do it in layers though otherwise the centre takes a bit longer to cure once the outside has cured.
