if you buy the right type of bulbs, you wont have to muck around with any wiring. they'll just hook up to your existing harnesses.
the hard part is figuring out where to mount the ballasts.
If you are going to go to the effort of getting HID's though, you're better off getting HID projector housings for your EK headlights. Because, the regular reflectors that you have will be light shining a spotlight on the road ahead, and will blind everyone.
PM saxman about how to do an HID retrofit. Mounting the ballasts is easily done by taking off your front bar (you'll be retrofitting headlights too, so they'll be out) and bolting them onto a few spare holes in your frame, then a couple of cable ties just to be sure to be sure.
cheers, will do
ill pm saxman now

another mofo using reflectors and hid's...and ek4r is in melbourne...in advance, cos i wont be able to say it when i drive past you.
I hate you for blinding me with your crappy hid's.
Saxman will tell you everything about gettinga retrofit.
In which case for you...is not going to be easy since u have a reflector kit. You won't be able to use your H4 kit in your new retrofitted headlight. If you choose to retrofit, ignore what i say below.
ANYWAY...wiring H4 hid's is alot harder than just wiring up a hid kit for say a dc2.
You must use a relay that connect directly to the battery. Do you have that?
Then you must use the original h4 bulb clip as a signal whether to turn on or not. Can you find that?
Take pics of everything that you have.
And ill show u how to put it all together.

haha bungsai, im not gona blind u, i live no way near you and im still deciding if im gona install it or not.
how bout i come to your house and you help me out a OZH member? :D:D
will take photo tonight and post it up here also
EDIT: just had a look, seem like most the wires are plug-n-play.
most of the wires have a connect that connects into either the ballast or the bulb and cant be connected anywhere else.
they is only two wires that have a metal ring around it. so im guessing thats for + and - ??

Source projectors for HID and retrofit. You'll get better illumination and less people will be blinded and drive into your lane.

ROFL...next week in the lounge
"RIP EK4-R...guys today i was driving down Swanston Street, and this car got blinded by my crappy HID's, and we had a head on. He crushed my bulbs so now i can't drive...:("
Yeah dude, if you can please get a retrofit...then again, i can't really talk, i havnt dont mine yet.
when you guy say projectors, and retrofit, does that mean get something like a projector lense (pic below) and put it into my existing headlight?
if so where do i get one and how much??

haha yeah thats it man, althought that is freaking ugly cos there is no shield around the projector...better if it looks like this
http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/82000077/Images/1/PHL-CIVC-9698-BK-YD-P.jpg
Thats why it can be a bit of hard work.
Where can u get one from?
Well you have to buy a projector set up from a wrecker or ebay. Then you need to take apart your headlight and install it yourself. I have not found anyone in australia that does these for $$...nor have i found appropriate projectors yet. Its not a big thing in australia.
One option is to buy the above aftermarket headlights (means no chopping or cooking of you current headlights, but who knows how good the quality of those ones above is) $310 + projectors....im not sure, maybe ask saxman...he'll be here sooner or later...but probably about $200 a set.
Here is what a good retrofit into a civic looks like
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid159/pbdcb401005b90d2d5e5f349d5eebea8c/f4f58d65.jpg
as aaronng said, you will need to get a new HID kit, with D2S bulbs to fit into the new projectors. If you can find these headlights, you probably have HID projectors setups in them
Off the top of my head
Lexus RX 330
BMW 330Ci, M3
S2k
Accord Euro - Lux Edition only
Chrysler 300c.

They usually source projectors from wrecks of Audis and Lexus. Since these are true HID projectors, you'll be using proper D2 series bulbs rather than the H series.
hmm i already got my h4 hi/low HIDs lol
got it from Nick :P (where is my instructions?! lol :()
but yea i saw the one that you posted up bungsai, its around 330 a set. i dont want those angel halos. prefer the ek9 lights. plus quality isnt nothin compared to OEM. but i might try source some from a wrecker like audi / lexus etc.
guess i need to wait for saxman first.
i just wanna know HOW TO install it first before i go into detail on retrofitting and projectors. wanna see it in my headlights :D
bungsai
29-09-2006, 04:19 PM
right, so u wanna blind us all first. Man, once u install it, as if u can be bothered taking it all out then spending more money to retrofit...
once u pop u cant stop mangzzzz
you speaking about yourself?? ;)

bah, ill put the HID behind ure cluster, teach you whats its like to be glared by crappy ass civic drivers.
Better keep this to the spam thread ay, before we get 'benjaminned'

now to be fair, that picture was one I took when I was test fitting the projectors... those lights were far from finished... this is what they look like finished

anyway, here is what you're doing by putting those hids in without a projector
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c217/saxman242/glare.jpg
I'll let you figure out which one is the projector retrofit and which one is the plug and play kit like you got. For reference, the much dimmer light puts out WAY more usable light onto the road.
Honestly, I'd suggest taking the kit you have, getting your money back, and spending it on a proper set up. It really will be worth it in the end. Do it once and do it right.

i did this kit on notorious ahmies car.
easy as.
the black ones go to the chassis.
the red ones go to go the + of the battery;
i figured out how to plug most of the parts however, im alil confused about this one (the triangular one with 3 heads).

where do i plug this into, i believe something to do with battery and power?
here is a pic of my engine bay. someone help me point it out? also be great any suggestions on where i could mount my ballast n wires
thank you!

the three prong one acts like the back of an H4 bulb. Plug it in where your stock headlight bulb plugs in to the wiring harness.
destrukshn
30-09-2006, 09:42 AM
yups that plug goes into your original wiring harness of your car.

props to you saxman, for helping out this guy regardless of the fact that we constantly ignore your advice.
yeh man, that 3 prong plug goes in the part of your car that you normally plug into the BULB. The will be found somewhere near the headlight, and have 3 slots for those prongs.
ummm the there is only 1 3 pong to feed the power into the whole hid kit? do i just plug it into any one of the headlights original power feed? or is there only one anyways
destrukshn, nick told me u installed a few kits like these already. its near my passenger headlight right?
destrukshn
30-09-2006, 02:09 PM
yeah, just plug it into any.
one, the closest one would be the passenger one.
hmm i think i might install it near driver side as they is much more room there.
power steering bottle n other bits n pieces gets in the way on the passenger side. where did you put it destrukshn?
destrukshn
30-09-2006, 02:12 PM
you can do that, if you extend the wires to the battery terminal, if you don't, extend em, then you can't put it on the passenger side.
bungsai
30-09-2006, 02:16 PM
THe three prong ins't for power, that what the relay is for, the three prong is just the signal to to tell the kit to go high beam or low beam. :)
ok this is now im connect it
3 parts, my bulb, my transformer, my wires with the ground/3 pong/connectors
1/ bulb (3 wires) which 2 goes into the transformer, and another go to the a connect on the wire.
2/ transformer (2 wires, 1 hole), 2 wires are connect to my bulb, and 1 connector from my wire to my transformer'.
3/ connect all the relevant ground wires onto the chassis, connect one wire into my bulb, one into my transformer, and the 3 pong to any existing headlight assembly.
is this correct???
now im alil confused. where does the power go into my HID kit?? does it come from the 3 pong?
saxman
30-09-2006, 05:02 PM
the set up should be pulling power from the battery. That said, you're using an hid kit that is by no means known for it's high quality craftsmanship, so there's really know way to know exactly what's going on.
How many little ring terminals are there? Does one have a fuse near it? Chances are that's the one that connects to the positive terminal of the battery.
Lay the wiring harness out on the bed, with all the different connectors seperated and take a picture... I'll try to tell you what connects where.
ok they they is 3 rings. 1 for each transformaer and 1 ring on its own which have 2 fuse on it. do i connect that ring to the positive batterY?
atm i have all 3 on the chassis cos i duno wich to connect.
i turn on the power all i hear is a click frmo the transformer, no charging sound and no light.
so do i connect that ring with the two fuse connect to it to the positive battery terminal??
here are the ring with the fuse on it. do i connect it to the postive battery terminal or where do i plug it??
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/5792/p9290263kz3.jpg
and here is the 3 pong, i just plug this into any headlight existing connector thats connect to my bulb before yes??
http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/3470/p9290266ph6.jpg
saxman
30-09-2006, 06:44 PM
yes, the one with the fuses is the positive line.
plug the three pronged one in right there
And be VERY sure that the bulbs are plugged into the ballasts before turning anything on.
so i plug the positive ring into the battery itself. am i correct?
saxman

i dunno the mechanics of what you got, but cuz this shit is defectable, I suggest you mount your ballasts somewhere under your front bumper in front of your wheelarches.
you won't be able to see it from the engine bay.
thats where mine are mounted.

ah someone told me not to mount it to the battery directly
would it blow anything or the bigger power dont matter?

ah someone told me not to mount it to the battery directly

If it does, it will only blow a fuse. You should have fuses on your ballasts.
ok cheers will try now. i have two fuse for each light but not on/in my ballasts, i believe thats wat you talking about, they are on the same wire that im connect to my + battery terminal.
