hi peeps, about to get this setup fitted to my car :

-B18c non-type-r stock internals
-b16a head + type-r cams
-10.4CR (cause of using B16a head?)
-10psi boost
-560cc injectors
-600x300x100 intercooler
-GT2860RS A/R 0.64

aiming to get 270-300hp out of it, is it possible and would the internals hold up? also i'm getting it tuned for track use, will be seeing ambient temps of 92-97 fahrenheit on average and 101 F. on really bad days, humidity is somewhere bout 72-82%. do u guys think i can achieve my target? :o

I would consider forged internals (drop the compression ratio) for that amount of boost on a stock engine mate. That said, it should be attainable, but you would want to make damn sure that it is tuned VERY well to cause no detonation, otherwise motor go boom.

Good luck with your project! I'm using the same turbo on my EM1 very soon!

230-250hp maybe be more realistic.. just comes down to the tune... crucial!
what kind of manifold do you have lined up?

all up to the tuner
but runnign stock internals..
i would suggest something along the lines of 8psi, not 10.

If you have a very good tune, you should be fine. When seeing those temps, you may want to drop the boost a little bit.

But to reiterate..
good tune = works fine
bad tune = kaboom!

When playing with high comp set ups, the quality of the tune becomes even more important.

Just to say it again... You should be fine as ling as the tune is good. 10 psi isn't that much. It never hurts to do internal work as you will want to go from 10 psi to 15 psi soon! If you still have the motor apart it is time to do some internal work.

high comp turbos are fun. problem is one bad batch of fuel will have catastrophic results.

^^^anyone whose got a modified engine would be smart to keep a bottle of octane booster in the glovebox for such emergencies

This setup will be just fine if the tuning is spot on as the other guys have posted, just get a lower temp thermostat and make sure the ECU is a very good one.

appreciate the input guys! keep 'em coming!

waggy - have forge internals lined up for my next engine rebuilt, maybe will consider dropping the CR to 9.5 with 14.7psi boost, see whether high comp. and boost can be friends for the long run. ;) good luck in your project too!

stealth - yeah i guess u have a point there, but i'm seeing B16A@12psi with a 3mm head gasket getting those sort of numbers so a B18c should do slightly better...or maybe i'm too optimistic. ;) i'm currently using the B18C type-r throttle + manifold.

destrukshn - advice noted. thanks!

saxman - points noted. thanks!

slow96gsr - yeah boost can be addictive! i'm not going to fit a boost controller so i don't make this costly mistake! too late to do more internal work as engine is already up and running.

jimmeh - yes...not much room for error i suppose. thanks for the warning!

dsp26 - octane booster..check!

dynodave - already have a 68c thermostat, 1.3bar water cap and an oil cooler in place, only missing the fan switch and bigger radiator. ECU i'm looking at hondata S200, haltech E6X, microtech LT10.

been having some thoughts...should i be getting the 0.86 A/R instead of the 0.64?

From my research, the T3 housing 0.82 A/R GT28RS is the best turbo for a street Honda. This is the turbo I will be buying for my car.

Almost instantaneous spool, and strong top end because of the T3 housing. Combine this with a Mini-me or Ramhorm manifold and you got yourself a bitchin' setup.

As I've said, this is from my research only. People with more experience may be able to help you out more with real world experience, however, it really depends on what you are looking for from the car. If you want to stay with the stock GT-RS housing (T25) then I would be going with the 0.86 A/R, more top end and still excellent spool.

Forget the octane booster shit, just talk to whoever is going to be tuning your car and work with them on a ECU.My choice would be S300 Hondata but it depends in which city you live in as to tuners.
