here's my old EK, kings super lows and 17"
With 3 people in the car it scrubbed the tires on hard corners.

So with my standard 15inch and superlow with people in the car....u think it will scrub for sure?
jackosimm

Yes because they have the same rolling diameter as my wheels, just different profile on the tyres.
Just really depends on the width and profile you use.

Youll be dissapointed with lows. I got supers ans was like "Is that it"? Luckily it sagged a bit after a while

My rims suck...
I see EKs all the time with 17s and 18s on them, slammed with no worries. I have 17s, with stock ride height, and I scrub on corners and dips in the road...
why not show the shop your thinking of getting the king low/superlows from how Low you want to go, so they can custom make them for you, my mate usually gets his springs made to the specs he wishes, for Normal price? i guess just point out how low you want to go.

I will find a picture of my car with no lips. running on lows these pictures were takin about 1 day after i put them in. ( my car scrubs with someone in the back and car wont roll with 4 heavy people it just sites on the tyres. so i am going to try a 195 instead of a 205 so this may be what you will need to do ) and im going lower in a monthish time.
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3064/picture015xz8.jpg
and with lips not hte best picture to use as the car looks a km high.

super low is not as low as it sounds
get the rite tyre profile n u'll b ok wifout scrubbing
eg. i got superlows.. had fat fives 15's + 205/55 profile
scrubs on fulllock
eg. i had 17's wit 205/40.. never had a issue incl. hafing a full car...
so look more into ur tyre prfile
SIR GSR
02-10-2006, 08:20 PM
I still don't get it. I have 205/40 on the back because the 215/40 were rubbing all the time (with just my wife (45kg) and daughter (10kg) in the car) and it still rubs with just me in it on bumps, and even more so with all of us in again...
Maybe the offset is wrong....is it possible to grind the inside hub of the rim to change the offset?
Sorry to hijack the thread...

i have superlows on my car and i've got 15" ek4 stockies and i hardly get any scrubbing even with a full car load.. i mainly have 3 girls in the car tho.. don't know if they're that heavy but i rarely get scrubs..
ps. thanks kn1ghtm4r3

Get superlows. they will be fine, and then get konis so u can drop the back down and make it level as the kings sit higher at the back, looks weird.
I am still using my stock 15's running with 195/50's and i have no trouble with scrubbing unless i have a few passengers, then i struggle.:p

Are EK and EM springs any different at all?

i had super lows .. they didnt scrap.. both when i had 17's and 16's..
I think all the people who mention about scrapping is because they proabably had the wrong offset..
Or they wont running STD shocks... konies by it self will already lower the car as their default perch is already slighty lower..
when i kane it at the track.. my car rolls alot and the wheels tuck right under and nicely in my guard... look how much ground clearence i have.. btw my guards arent even rolled..
38+ offset wheel. x6.5 wide.. 205/50/15
Its goes right under.. From memory OEM rims are like 42+ offset.. they would sit even inner inside the guard.. however they are only 6" wide

what offset is your wheels..
The back shouldnt ever scrap with > +38 offset as the camber you would get would get the rear wheels tucking in the guard..
Maybe because its 215... kinda an overkill for 1.6 litrs though
and also 215/40 is alike a fair bit bigger than 205/40 in diameter...

Are EK and EM springs any different at all?
not for kings and about 80% of other manufacturers.. they use the same rates and everything too..
Hell... i reckon heaps of manufacturers.. even use the same spring for most Tegs and civic...
thats why sometimes u see the higher rears.. its proabably cause its shared with the teg platform as the rear is slightly heavier
..
PICS of my koni SUPERLOWS... it really isnt that low..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/civic168/civic/e575.jpg
ive got a super lows and the car is sitting on 18" rims...no rubbing or anything at all...its rides bloody stiff though.http://image-cache.boostcruising.com/database/readersrides/files/B16A200512242351ridefile1.jpg

how low can i go on civic 2000 ek1 with minimum scrubing, i just bought 17s with 215/40. do i need roll guard?
doesnt changing stiffer shock help cure scrub?
Waggy
04-10-2006, 10:19 PM
215s would prolly require rolling the guard mate - I got 205s and they were good on the kings unless i cornered REAL hard.

so anyone try 215/40/r17 on superlow? did it scrub? require rolling guard?
im new to honda, ***en bob jane gave me 215 tyre, if i have known i would of ask for 205 tyre.
so can i still lower on superlow?
or better off with low?
and what offset it require?
does lowering affect tyre wear on one side due to camber?

wont be the same, u'll have slightly more gaps (~1cm or so) running on 15s.

adds a nice colour to it.. plus not many ppl are gonna break into ur car to steal ur seat covers.. bride buckets look hotter but its too dangerous! and it looks btr than standard trim IMO

Yes, still on standard shocks at the present time. The wheels are 17". No, the gap would be a little wider with 15" wheels.

i had king spring super lows on my car and i wasnt happy with the height so i went for lower blitz springs which are about 20mm lower, ive had a variety of wheels on my car, ive had 18x7 neeper titans on my car and they only scrubed with 4 people in the car and the scrubbing wasnt that bad for the weight and speed. Now i am back onto 16x6.5 with 40 profile tyre and the right offset rim and i never ever scrub ever not even with 5 people in my car and 50kg's of stereo gear in the boot. If you choose the right offset and size wheel you will be fine. Note rear tyres in the pic are 45 profile have been changed now from when it was taken.http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/4900/pip1bt1.jpg

yes it is. many can vouch for it.
And yes, it's because i had 18's it looks low.
the offset to my simmons rims where +38 if i remember correctly.
ps. the photos where taken after the springs had settled down.
newly installed springs may look a bit higher........
