as you all know i painted my nuts the other day....my wheel nuts.
i had done my wheel few days ago too but wasnt fitted till last weekend so thought i do a diy too.
aim:
bring cheapo looking rims back to new again
tool:
1x primer
1x colour paint
1x clear coat
1x newspaper
1x tape
1x solvent based cleaner

steps:
1/ clean your rim with solvent based cleaner. remove any uneven surfaces and stuck on dirty.

2/ if you have tyres on your rims, you would need to cover it with newspaper and tape around the with tape to make sure paint doesnt get on your tyres and rim lip

3/ once clean, put rim on clean surface, prefer with no wind blowing dust, and cover the floor with newspaper ( i didnt cos im lazy ).
4/ spray primer on your rims, make sure its covering everything corner as its hard to reach tight spots and curves.

5/ once primer dry, spray your paint colour on. you need to do this few layers of this as paint dont stick on perfectly the first coat. go light layers. wait until paint is dry then give another coat.

6/ on with the clear coat. once again few layers to keep rim nice and glossy. add layers once first clear coat is dry. make sure again areas you painted is completely covered.

7/ i gave a really heavy coat of clear in the end and let it dry overnight. i dont think it was necessay but i only had alil clear left so i thought why not use it. no harm dont, except your carrying extra 0.003grams of weight :eek:
8/ remove newspaper and admire your new rims.

extra note:
people with rim lip, can use autosol from autobarne to clean up your polished rims and bring it to life.
wet n dry sandpaper can also be used for polishing before apply autosol. work from 500-2000 grit.
