For the last 6 months, my lifters have been hella loud. Currently running Elf 20-40 oil in it to quieten it down but still is reasonably loud. Does anyone have an easy fix to this?

The tappets were adjusted just under 2 weeks ago as well.

Engine is B16A2.

pretty simple, changing to a k20 should fix it. just take it out of your dc5.

20 - 40???

Maybe you should be using slightly thinner oil. Maybe the oil is having trouble making its way up to the head?? I've had thick oil problems in some of my previous cars.

How did it sound after you had the tappets adjusted?

B16A2 does not use lifters

its a tappet only motor with lost motion assembly

could have worn LMA or the tappets where not set correctly

Might want to do a search about the LMA's actually. i think i remember a descent post about them, and how you repair/replace them.

Duy - Another EG will come up in the future when I hopefully sell my current one, but the DC5 is just too comfortable.

Jason - Ive tried thinner oil and it seems louder in a sense.

Ill try and locate the LMA write up - unless anyone else has something else to help?

What was the viscosity of that thinner oil that you tried?
20-40 means when at operating temperature it is 40. But when cold, it is 20, which means you are compromising cold start protection.

You can instead use a 10w-40. At operating temperature it will be the same viscosity as your current oil. When cold, it will protect as well as Honda FEO 10w-30.
