2 weeks ago, my Jazz CVT has now become like a rocking machine..... it vibrates like mad when I'm in D mode, and sometimes I switch to N whilst stopped and the car still vibrates, though not as much but very obvious....
It happened overnight so thought it was a problem with the fuel related (std 91ron) then i quickly wasted all the fuel and poured bp ultimate and the problem still occurs although slightly less.......
then i poured the 2nd tank of bp ultimate, thinking by now, the poor fuel should have gone, but still same probs.......
as far as i know, the idling rpms looks the same - about 800rpm at idle....
the car has just turned over 101,000kms......... any suggestions?

yeh, i guessed engine mounts when i read the title of the thread.
They're made to absorb alot of the vibration of the engine. But if they shit themselves you'll get sloppy shifts (manual) and more vibrations through the car.

if one of the sparkies are dead, then there would be a considerable amount of power loss, which he hasn't mentioned.

common on the newer hondas i've realised, are the front near side and off side lower mounts, front mount.

I vaguely recall symptoms like that being related to a CVT problem in the jazz.

cvt?
hms.. but him hitting 101k kms, his due for a major.

i haven't serviced the 100k yet... but i have the handbook in front of me, and the service at 100k is not a major ones....
Major services are 40k, 80k, 120k...
at 100kms, its only replace engine oil, filter, inspect everything else.... BUT i just noted, at 100ks, it specifically says to check "Idle Speed" for the 1st time (maybe thats related to my problem)

i must be thinking of the older hondas.. lol. my bad.
but like i said earlier, one of the first things, and one of hte easiest is engine mounts.

ok will check them this weekend....... =)
thanks for the tips
it might be the cvt gear,, mine was like that once, but lucky the warranty pays for the fixing cost.. they replaced something but i forgot about it as it was nearly 4 yrs ago

lol radiator :p Sky, have a look at the car section at www.howstuffworks.com :)
I would change the CVT fluid and see how that goes. The belt may be slipping or something due to bad/contaminated fluid

if the vibrations are slight, and happens in D (any revs), it sounds like a CVT problem. the starter clutch.. yes, there is a clutch in the cvt unit.
if it is very violent and jerks only in slight to medium throttle, then, it could be the EGR.. EGR jerking goes away when you full throttle the machine.

goddamn youre an idiot. why dont you tell him to check the wiper blades and the brake light fuse while youre at it, itd be about as useful.
hurry up and get yourself band again.
in relation to op's question, engine mounts seem the obvious place to look, i assume the car probly isnt misfiring as you wouldve figured that out by now

It's something to do with a valve in the engine somewhere lol (sorry for not being very specific). Just having the same problem at the moment and the guys at the dealership found out it was that.

by the sounds of it, sounds like a cvt start clutch shudder.. does it vibrate most when u take off?? say if u at the lights and u plant it, does the car vibrate like crazy then?
have u changed the battery lately? was it done at honda? or atleast brought back in to restart the cvt start clutch..
check ur rh and lh engine mounts, they tend to break.
with the EGR valve.. u usualy experiece jerks/skipping feeling at low revs, travelling around 60kms...
u neva know.. u could have all of the above.. suggest u bring it to a dealer.

you know, if you forget to put your oil filler cap on, that will cause your car to vibrate.

hehe.. i know this.. i got this few weeks ago.. what i did.. is change oil.. and ask honda tech 2 clean the oil drain to reduce all the carbon..
whats happen is.. the carbon is stuck 2 the piston.. and ussually vibrates when around 2.5 - 5000 rpm, car got worst vibration when on high speed corning the RPM stall on 1.5-2000 RPM

After a few weeks, I think I found out the logical explaination to what caused the rough idling / vibration - it was poor quality fuel....
I remember filling the Jazz with normal Shell petrol one night , parked my car in the garage overnight, and the next day it started idling like crazy........
I didn't assume it was fuel because I have poured at this particular Shell for a long long time about 75% of the time and it's never caused any problems...
anyway, decided to attempt to flush out the fuel system with good fuels......poured a few tanks of Optimax / V power and BP Ultimate in a row, and after a few tanks, the car seems fine now.....
no more rough idling at idle!
get your wheels balanced mate. she will be fine.
it vibrates when stationary
why in hell would you get wheels balanced
the aint even moving. hence the stationary part.
