Just wondering when you lose by 0.1 seconds down the 1/4 mile, how far ahead is the car next to you? trying to figure out what a car length equals to.

depends on the length of the car

also depends on speed :p

well length of car is abit too precise.. and speed.. well say 15.0 and 15.1

look, you're kinda right, but

speed = distance / time

im not mathematical but

if you get speed = distance / time .
you'd get 400m / 15 sec = speed compared to 400 / 15.1 you'll get a comparison of the two speeds.

but, you gotta factor in things like trap speed and speed when you cross the line.

you'd need to give us more numbers, like 60 ft, trap speed, reaction time, etc

go look for some 15 & 15.1 second runs and judge it for urself :)

as stated above, depends on the mph.

therse a difference in
9.0 and a 9.1
&
15.0 and a 15.1

Dam guys... its almost 1am and all the smart guys are still awake... thats why honda drivers cant be hoons.. we have brains.. i was just asking for a mere guestimate.

Well in short im just asking casue ive read that on average... if you lose 100lbs (45kg) you gain 0.1 seconds down the 1/4. So just seeing if its really worth losing 45kg. Cause i think i can do that.

.1 of a second is nothing man....u cannot do a perfect run everytime probably more important to get a good launch a great gear changes :p make up time in that aspect.

i know 0.1 aint very much but that could be the difference between 15.0 and 14.9.. on top of that perfect launch.. pretty much everything helps

Id say at 15 and 15.1 @ 140/150km:

your front bar crosses the line and the other car is at the height of your door.

assuming an approx 90mph trap speed, the difference is about 13 feet(90mph=132feet per second, car travels 13.2 feet in a 10th of a second), so the other car would basically be at your rear bumper.

At 140km/hr, 0.1sec = 3.9m

Doesn't get much more precise than that. Was a lot easier than i thought to work it out as well. Maths B in highschool paid off after all, lol.

In F1, 0.1 sec is like more than one car length...do the maths...hehe
