DC5R Alarm Question

On previous posts I have mention that i have some alarm issues. Are you able to take out the factory fitted alarm without mucking up the immobilser and install a new after market alarm?? Or do u have to use the factory fitted alarm and just upgrade it.

I recently installed a Brant alarm and immobilisor in my DC5R and for some reason they had to keep my factory alarm and immobilisor system and just added the new brant alarm and immobilsor.

So effectively its like i have the factory alarm and the new alarm/imobilisor both working together.

So it may be that the factory system has to stay.
