ok as it is my car scrubs when i have people in the car. and when i have 4 ( including me) my guards are practicly on my tyres.
I have -.45 odd camber in my rear ( thats where it scrubs in the rear)
I only have a 12" sub in the boot lowerd on kings springs "lows" with stock shocks
wheels are 16 x 6.5 40mm+ offset on a 205/45 nexen n3000 tyre.
As you can see in the pictures below my tyres are a bit passed the guards. Could anyone have a possible soloution why? as i want to go a 1-2" lower in a little while.
Do you think a 195/45 or 40 is possible to buy and camber in my wheels to around -1.5' degree might solve this problem?
I am to worried about rolling guards as i dont want paint crackage. Also the panel beater said my tyres stick out further then what he could roll them.

try changing the tyre profile
lip or roll your gaurds.
change your shocks.

^^^probably the only solution unless you want to get stiffer spring rates.
by the look of the pic a thinner tyre won't even fix your problem.
however if you do get a thinner tyre like a 195 (i'm assuming you have 205), it will bring it in a bit maybe just enough that if you somehow modify the mud guard inside it won't scrub....

Get rims of the proper offset.

When u get ur car lowered more, get some stiffer springs (maybe kmacs) and roll the guards. The camber u get from the exra lowering should get the tyre under the guard.

Wrong offset

My wheels can sit IN the guards and have no problem with clearing them. 5ppl in the car and i got no problems.
Right offset FTW!

getting your guards rolled should fixx the problem. About $20-40 bucks per corner at a well known tyre place or Mod shop and the scrubbing shouldnt be a problem. Probably the cheapest solution. If you take it to a reputable place the paint should not be a problem.

40+ is the recomanded offset is it not?

offset should be fine as your rims are now wider as well. My theory is your suspension is not good enough (no offense to you sir ;)). Whats the state of your stock shocks?

40 offset sounds way fairly low to me but I'm no Civic expert. If you don't want to change rims I'd roll the guards first then go camber kit. With the too combined it should just fit. What I did on my lancer when the rear wheels scrubbed would put chalk on wheel arch, go for a "spirited drive" and see where it rubs off on the tyre, then you know how much further you have to go to clear the tyre and where abouts on the arch it's scrubbing.
As SiReal said, it could be the shocks as when you go round a corner or have too much weight the car it lower than it should be.
Sounds like it's time for fully adjustable coil overs to me ;)

my shocks still feel pretty good car has 52,000kms and they still feel like stockish ride.

Stock offset for a civic EK is +45 at 5.5" wide. Naturally when u go wider, have to reconsider the offset, with this wheel at 6.5", you would usually push the offset out a bit lower.
Thats odd but.

thats what i dont understand im about to go double check my offset on the wheel now. as i know they come in a 45+ and a 40+ i will be back in 2 minutes with the answer but i know i looked before and im sure it said 40

thats a good idea. i am waiting on my susp guy to come back from hoildays and ask his opinion.
what would be a quality spring + shock setup and how much would i be looking at?

Its better to be scrubbing outside than inside -> look on teh bright side ;)

your tyres also look pretty fat and wide. is that the usually recommended width?
hows ur tyre pressure as well?
and your mates, are they big guys:? that makes a big difference.

There wraped with a 205/45 tyre pressure is about 34-45psi ( im going to go double check now)
I have had big guys little guys and girls. its all the same. well not as bad when not with the big guys haha.

My 17" wheels have 205/40 tyres with a pressure of 38psi. I don't get any scrubbing in the rear and my guards are not rolled, and still on stock shocks. However, I do have abit of camber on the rear wheels (still supposedly within spec) which is obviously allowing it to avoid scrubbing.

Can't remember offhand but the wheel alignment report is in my glove box. I'm having dinner at the moment (on a wireless laptop on the dining table, haha) so after I finish my meal I'll check for you.

And if you could tell me how your tyres go for wear and what not.

OK, according to this wheel alignment report when I got the car lowered, the rear camber is as follows:
left -2`41'
right -2`06'
As for wear of the rear tyres, it actually doesn't look too bad. If there is any more wear on the inside than outside, it is only very marginal.
