bought 17s from bob jane as i was new to honda so i didnt know what tyre is require (that was before joining the forum) so i told them i be lowering later on. So they fitted me with 215/40 on 17s (17x7). Freaken bob jane wouldn't they should know better than to give 215 tyre considering they are wheel and tyre specialised not to mention i told them i will be lowering my car. So my question is can i still lower my car without any drama (major scrubing or other problem)
anyone who have lower on 215/40/r17 pls fill me in, whow low did you go on what spring brand.
i want as low as king super low.
BTW: my car is civic 2000 gli

yes you can lower your car.. but your profile will be restricting you on how low you can go.. people get scrubbing with 205's on king spring lows.. so i'm assuming you're going to have more trouble with the 215's..

I think he means his tyres might be a bit to wide:confused:

so my rim is 17x7 does that mean it was initially for 215? can i fit 205 on them, considering they still have 95% thread i have to wait a while to replace tyre not mention standard height but with 17s it seem to be higher than standard:( now im stuck with ride height above standard:( literally even a fat man can crawl under my car

yo bro, i have 17x7 with 205/45. mine is not super lowered, u could probably fit 2 fingers at the back and 2.5 at the front. also i.ve tried 215/45, no probs neither. hope this helps.

U'll prolly find they put 215's on for legallity reasons as they couldn't find a 205 with the right weight rating. I understand your pain though as I had 215/40/17 on my lancer and was a pain in the ass to find tyres with the correct load rating.

215/40/17 sounds a bit wide for your 7 inch wide rims but at least this way you have gutter protection.
the dodgy bastards from where i got my rims fitted gave me 205/40/17 for 7.5 inch wide rims... the rims sick out from the tyre abount 5mm. Soo bloody scared to sratch them now... :(

215 is not too wide for a 7 inch wide rim.
more like 215 is too wide for the civic if you wanted to lower it.
