If im lowing my car by 1.5" ( or tad lower) do i need to cut the bump stops when changing springs over? or can i leave it as it is ?

i dont think a 1.5" drop would warrant you cutting the bumps stops.
If your shocks are really stuffed then when you lower it it might bottom out a lot easier (i used to have this problem in my N13 pulsar), and in this instance you might want to cut them but you might find it will still bottom out anyways, but the hit will be even harder this time as there is less bump stop to absorb the shock
short answer, there isnt one, it depends on your spring rates and how your shocks are. If you have the money swap the shocks to suit the new springs.

Usually 1.5" drop does not need any cutting, however this is usually stated by the manufacturer as part of the installation instruction.
anything around the 2" mark usually does to allow more travel hence more comfortable ride.
what are u planning to do?

I didnt cut mine on "lows" and its fine. i havnt had my shocks bottom out unless i have 4 in teh car and i cant do that anyway because of scrubbage issues.
if you cut just cut one notch off.
i use a bench grinder to make it easy if you have access to one.
but yeh usually if you lowered 1.75-2inch you should cut at least 1 notch off to give the shock a bit more travel.
in conclusion if your shocks are on the way out you might have to cut them so the shocks dont bottom out. but the reason they are bottoming out are because they are on their way out.
if the shocks are good i dont think you need to cut them.

Thanks for the help guys.. Springs are 1.5" drop, however they were for EG/EK so they might sit alittle lower on my DC4.
I might just cut one notch off to be safe...

is this notch cuttin ur talkin bout to do with the stock shock absorber position?
if u cut a notch it means the shock absorber has more room to move rite?
sorry for the noobnes, i havent come across such terminology yet, lol

cut the bump stops is one of the most dagerous way ......
the function of bump stop is use to absorb and reduce the overload movement of the "steel" , prevent over movement.. :)
yes....this way "might" help u to solved out ur problem ,
but , due to u cut out the bump stops , which mean u r increasing the bound length of ur suspension which the length is no recomend by factory...
and soon or later the suspension will "KO's" due to increase the suspension pistons work loads.
l hope my little knowledge might help u realise the important of bump stop..
Good luck and stay tune.....

you cut bumpstops in regards to the lower you go. So a slight drop = none or little.
Also , in theory you go stiffer springs the lower you go too - only applies really to proper springs ( not king/kmac etc springs)
