The yellow encircled part has started to make whirrring screeching noises !!! Sounds like some moving part rubbing against something !! Anyone experienced this ?? What to do ?
thanks

Hi dude

sorry to say your distributor is rooted,

you need to replace it. you just need to get the dizzy body and you can reuse your coil and ICM and rotor button and cap

not much change left from $700

you can get change over units but from what Iv seen in the past some are ok and some are not.

best get a new dizzy from Honda.

you might be able to find the bearing inside that has failed from a bearing shop and change it.

good luck with it.

take it apart and see if you can diagnose exactly where it is.
are you planning on keeping the car for a while?
you will be able to get the bearing locally but depends if you can remove it and swop it over without damaging the dizzy
my ls one was squeeking opened it upa nd sprayed WD40 inside it worked for a while but wouldnt recomend it coz the dizzy gave up after 3 months haha...

the rotor/shaft thing had a lot of play in it...without investigating further the mechanic said dizzy needs changing...do i take it to a diff mech or something and see if we can get away with just changing a bearing or something ? or change the dizzy ? how much am i looking at from the wreckers...anyone got on here ?

I've got a receipt here for $465 for a brand new distributor from a mechanic, for a 1.8l LS engine, if that gives you any idea. But from a wrecker's...i don't know, sorry

personally i'd buy a new one at least you know its gonna work and if not its under warrant. Post a wanted posting and see if anyone else can help you, otherwise you will need to ring around. There are a few members who work for honda on this site that might be able to help.
