you'd probably find you may have blown a fuse, or ****ed up the constant wire that goes to your head unit, you probably earthed it out.
beucase that is linked to your clock.
if that is the case, just run a new wire for your ignition harness.

Is the radio remembering the presets?

Youve prob blown the fuse in the engine bay fuse box(permanent power to clock & radio.

Think its like a 7.5A fuse in EG.

Also gives permanent supply to ECU,so I hope u havent put a surge thru the ECU............

Suggest your own thread first.

But your H/U prob has a phone mute input & youve hooked up this wire to pick up the dim function instead of the correct wire.

yeah but i've had that customers do that before, earth the constant to on a ground, focked it up, so i just ran a new wire from the ignition harness.
then everythign worked fine again.

ash_
you've probably hooked up the light wire to your att wire.

check the fuses in the fuse box there all good

Just FYI, some fuses may "look" fine, but dont tend to work.
I had a few of them before ... my amp died .. checked the fuse, it looked ok, but when we changed it to a new one, the amp started working back to normal.

RIVAL

destrukshn

but your amp fuse is different, you can't see the ends, where it may be blown
but on the blade type fuses and you can esily see if it's blown or not.
or anohter easy way is, use a test light.

WRONG :p i did the same thing boys and girls

What you did was cut off the old headunit plug??? right, so you can solder the new wires to them (well that's what i did) but the clock wire is connected to that plug as well for some reason. Trace the wires from the clock and see which one is loose (cut off) and connect it to your accessory wire.

You haven't blown any fuses mate so no point checking anything there as you said the clock works just doesn't light up unless you press it down.

Hope this helps, all i can say is been there done that :p
Let us know how you go

one last question which colour is accessories

Boban
10-10-2006, 08:43 AM
Sorry boys and rigls i made a bit of a d000 d000 yesterday, the clock should go onto the CONSTANT wire not the ACCESSORY one (yellow one not the red onem my bad  )

Anyhow, just for your reading pleasure i have pulled appart my headunit this morning so i can see which wires go where, therefore making it easier for RIVAL should he choose to attempt to install the cd player himself. I have a 94 VTi civic as well so the wires should be, well identical to RIVAL's one. My headunit of choice JVC KD-DV5105 (it plays dvd's too....mmmm porn....i mean movies, just movies)

Anyhow:
JVC - What they are - HONDA

Black - Ground - Black
Red - Accessory - Orange with Red stripe
Yellow - Constant - White with Blue stripe
Orange - Illumination/dimmer -Red with Black Stripe
Blue - Antenna - Don’t have pwr ant
Blue with stripe - Amplifier - Don’t have amp as standard
Green - DVD handbrake/ground wire - Don’t have DVD
Brown - Tel. Muting - Don’t have phone in there

SPEAKERS

JVC -> Honda
Right Front Speaker
Grey -> Blue w/ silver patches
Grey w/black stripe -> Grey w/ black stripe

Left Front Speaker
White -> Red w/ green stripe
White w/black stripe -> Brown w/ black stripe

Right Rear Speaker
Purple -> Red w/ yellow stripe
Purple w/black stripe -> Brown w/ white stripe

Left Rear Speaker
Green -> Blue w/ yellow stripe
Green w/black stripe -> Grey w/ white stripe

Most aftermarket headunits use the same coloured wires on their headunits so the colours should be pretty similar, if you tell me what headunit you've got i can search the installation guide for it on the net and tell you if they are same or not, only difference i've come across is that on some the YELLOW (constant) wire is PINK and not all have 2 remote wires like JVC (blue and blue with stripe), some have only one and not all have illumination and tel. muting (orange and brown wires) but they're not all that important.

Like always mate, if you need any more info just ask

Couldnt possibly be that fuse........

Boban quite clearly said it wasnt a fuse problem!

U must be mistaken, check & see if it is really workin,u might be seeing things

RIVAL

im serious it was a fuse not the fuse box near ur feet the one in the engine

i got 2 here :D

Boban

CRXer, sorry d00d i didn't mean to say you are wrong about everything. maybe he did blow the fuse after all, i just said what happened to me, maybe RIVAL did do something else.

Anyhow good to hear you got everything working mate, and go JVC. The plug off of them fits Sony, Sanyo, Pioneer and a bunch of other CD players so if you ever decide to change it it's gonna be a piece of cake, pull one out and plug the new one in :p

Dont worry Boban, just having a dig,u left yourself wide open for this one.
