Hi All,

Just a quick question, i have a DC2 and the other day i performed a minor serivce on my car, changing oil, sparkies, oil filter etc etc....

What i had notice when changing my spark plugs.....there has been oil build up around the sparkies in the block......what can this cause??? My VTI-R also has been constantly blowing smoke when i rev it around 4-5 RPM????
Is my engine on it's way??? :( :(

Any feed back would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Oil around the plugs will be from your spark plug seals. They are 4 little round rubber rings which sit between a surface in your head, and the valve-cover.

What colour is the smoke? Also, do you get smoke when you lift-off the throttle (valve-steals)?

when you hit vtec you tend to run rich.
so it may be normal.

but for the leak
there are 4 spark plug tube seals when you take off the rocker cover.
for a temp fix, use silicone, but i would recommend that you change em.

Why do you still need to bump when you've got advice?

Could you post a pic of your spark plug up? I want to see how much oil is there.

reset your ecu firstly to try and eliminate the fueling problem. clean your air filter.

black smoke = overfueling. so engine condition will/should be fine

check if you are using heaps of oil...

check your rear bumper for any oil residue..

check for grey smoke...

###these typically mean you have engine problems like broken pison rings##
