Hi guys,
My ABS light on my Integra VTiR is flashing for about 2 seconds everytime i press on the brake when the car is moving. Im not braking hard, just softly so it should not activate the ABS. When im at a stand still and i press the brake it doesnt light up. Also when i do hit the brakes hard, the ABS light comes up and stays lit until i turn the ignition off and on again, sometimes it turns off by itself though after about 5min to 10min of driving.
Someone has told me that on their Accord it did the same thing when one of the brake light bulbs were broken. It disappeared when he replaced the bulb. I checked and my brake lights are fine.
Has anyone else experienced this?

teaseR: have you reset your ABS???
g3vtir: You may need to check your ABS unit for fluid. You could have enough fluid in your master cylinder to work the brakes but not enough in the ABS modulator to activate the ABS when needed.

yo g3vtir ,
my frens had the same problem with u too......
their solution is : reset ur ECU - Go to the fuse box which located in the right top engine bay and pull out the "ECU" fuse , and wait for 10 - 15 mins then plug it in again..... then it should be ok and no more ABS light ON..
hopefully can help u and Good luck.. :)
stay tune.....

thanks guys...abs fluid is good, so i dont think that's it, though yesterday when driving i noticed that when i step on the brakes and the abs light turns on, my stereo turns off!!! so just to make sure there was no short circuit somewhere i ripped out the stereo and i drove it to work this morning, again the ABS light turns on when i brake.
This problem though is intermittent. Sometimes the light turns on, sometimes it doesnt...sometimes it stays lit for about 5min, sometimes it disappears as soon as i let go of the brakes.
Also, I have installed one of those Gtech type meters (its not gtech though) and to install it i tapped into the ECU's vehicles speed sensor, and other sensors. Though i have the device unplugged so i dont think this will be causing the problem do you??

Take it to the stealership. ABS (and the Air Bag systems) are nothing to mess with. I know your A.B.'s are ok, just saying as a generality. The dealer can find the problem and fix it faster and correctly if you don't know what to look for or where. This could be cause by the mods you put in or something that just went bad.

SRS is the airbag system
ABS is brakes
unless you're referring to both of them in your post...
i think i just confused myself

What year model is the car?
Do a ABS code check first, then reset(reset procedure depends on year model of car & has nothing to do with ECU fuse as stated above)
Definitely have a look at the connections made for the gtech, especially that the stereo is turning off, something not wired correctly here.
No point just unplugging it if the connections are bad/wrong,pull the gtech wiring out & return it to stock & see if prob persists.

Resetting ABS is just pulling a fuse.
Resetting SRS is a complicated procedure of waiting for the light to flash and shorting a circuit etc etc etc.

Early tegs, yes,by just pulling one of the ABS fuses.
Post '98,to erase ABS codes involves stomping on & off the brake pedal a few times after shorting SCS & ign on.

I got a 96 del sol with the ALB3 ABS unit and I only need to pull the fuse.
Do you know what ABS unit is in the car in question??

Just out of interest, what type of ABS unit needs to be reset the way that you described? Do you know the number ie ALB3 etc.

No sorry, all i know is if there is a "B2" fuse in the ABS fuse box,u just pull that for 10 secs.
If there is no "B2" fuse, then u short SCS,hold brake pedal down & turn ign on.
Then u press & release brake pedal waiting for ABS light to change each time.Do it a couple of times till ABS light blinks twice at ya or something along those lines.
I know its a diff between pre & post 98 tegs, not sure bout other cars.

Cool man.

The diff is the codes are stored in flash memory(or whatever its called) as opposed to being held by a permanent power supply like the B2 fuse.
Id assume most post '98(or thereabouts) cars would have similar back up.

hmmm ok i removed wiring to the gtech, removed the wiring to the stereo (ripped it off completely) and removed the negative terminal of the battery to reset everything today . While driving to the mechanic today the light turned on 2 to 3 times. After that it hasnt turned on at all. Hopefully it doesnt turn on at all anymore. Didnt actually end up getting the mechanic to look at it as they were very busy.

Why dont u do a code check & see if u can locate the prob, will prob lead u right to it?
Again, what year model is your car?
U might not have reset it at all by pullin the neg lead,if u read all the above.
