Hi All,

Have a friend who is upgrading the rear sway bar of his 1996 EK4 VTi-R Hatch to one from a Type R so his original rear sway bar will be available.

Since my 1998 EK1 GLi Sedan does not have a rear sway bar at all, will the EK4 rear sway bar bolt straight on? Will all the mounting points line up? I suspect i will need to purchase new endlinks, but apart from that does anyone know if i will have any other issues getting it fitted?

Thanks.

It will bolt straight on. No need for any modifications.

does the subframe come with the 4 mounting points (plus the tapped welded areas for the 4 x 12mm bolts to adjoin) ?

yes it does.. however they might not have a back bolt welded on..

so just get some nuts and washers to go onto the back of the holes.

Has anyone actually fitted a VTi-R rear sway to a GLi Sedan?

I've read a number of posts regarding the tearing of EK4 subframes due to upgraded rear sway bars (even by a 2mm upgrade). Is fitting a standard EK4 rear sway on an EK1 sedan likely to be an issue considering that the EK1 did not have a rear sway bar at all?
