Hi, i did a search about headlights. some said it is auto off. So today, i turned on the lights, opend the door then closed, locked the car and waited for a minute. But nothing happened.:o
Did anyone try that? Does it only available on lux model? Mine is '05 standard. I feel guilty coz even commodore has that feature.

did you lock the car? try it with the headlights on and with turn on central locking maybe that might work

Yes i did. Nothing happen:( How long does it actually take to turn off automatically? i saw on commodore, it took less than a minute.

the new commodore i've seen has a switch is something like:
off, on-parkers, on-headlights/highbeam, auto.

so when it's on auto it turns on AND off when you power on/off the car depending on how much light is in the area.

not sure if this is on all of them or if its the same on your car though..

You'll b right. As KANDY said, commodore has off, on-parkers, on-headlights/highbeam, auto. But Euro doesnt have auto option. Thanks for sharing guys.

Kandy's right. Only Canada and European models "might" have auto off because they have DRL.

Euro doesn't have that feature but the accord V6 has that feature.

thing is, its such an easy thing to do, all they have to do is wire it up so that when the drivers door is opended, and the engine is off, the headlights automatically go off

still amazes me that simple things like this, are not in super advanced modern day cars, when they were just factory standard back in the 80's...

maybe some one should do a DIY on it hahaha

You'll need quite a few relays though, unless you want to have the light turn on again after you close the door.

if a 1988 toyota cressida can do it, it shouldnt even be listed as an option in a 2006 honda accord.

Not sure what the problem is. That lights left on buzzer is loud and the dash it brightly lit up when the lights are left on.

you will find that the lights automatically turn off when your battery is flat :)

Seeing how the Euro's warning system bings you and flashes the headlight symbol if you switch your ignition off with the lights still on - it's fairly hard to forget to switch them off.

Certainly saved me a few times. 2006 model with the trip computer.

Like on many other cars, it'd be nice to have a 'courtesy' light mode, where the headlights stay on for a minute or so to light the driveway as you walk to your front door or wherever after locking your car, before turning off.

Like atjo says, refer to the link in his quote.I thought it would be unlikely that the legend wouldn't have them.

Most of the articles are wrong. There were at least 3 that claimed that the Euro had no telescopic adjustment on the steering column. One article even said that the Euro had the 118kW Accord engine.

You shouldn't feel guilty... I beleive it's only a feature on the higher-end models... I drive a 1998 V6 Luxury...and yes, after 15 seconds lights auto dim or turn off itself...the same goes for central locking... if say I leave my car unlock for more than 5 minutes, it automatically locks itself...so yeah, you get what you paid for I suppose. But I am sure if you leave your lights on after leaving the car, a light-on signal should play constantly...something like...ding dong ding dong....so yeah...

Good luck mate...I might be wrong so yeah...

yup, Toyota really do quite a lot of quality into their cars, even lower base models. Like i said before, auto headlight off + air con +power windows was pretty standard, even back in teh 80's
