I was wondering if the lenght fo the pipe at the very end where extractors join your exhaust on 4-2-1 extractors matters?
Liike is longer better ?

your talkign about the length of the collector?
where it mergers 4 into one?
it more the quality and design that will make changes

As l know , if ur extractor collecter is long which mean this is design for a better power gain up in "Hi-End Rev" ( 6000 Rpm onward ).... This design usually called " 4 -1 " extractor.

vice versa , if ur extractor collecter is short ( as ur photo shown ), which mean this is design for a better ( Torque ) power gain up in "Low-mid Rev" ( before 6000 Rpm ).... This design usually called " 4 -2-1 " extractor.

Example : JDM DC2R ( 96 Spec ) = "4-2-1" - better take off
JDM DC2R ( 98 Spec ) = "4-1" - better power gain up in "hi rev"

AUDM DC2R ( same as 98 Spec ) = "4-1" :) ( sweet~~!! )

Thses 2 designs r extreame charecteristic , It is depends on what kind of driver u r , then u can choise which 1 u prefer....

Pesonally , l will prefer "4-2-1" , coz it is useful and reliable in street use...

l wish l might answer ur question... :)

im not talking about the lenght of the part which merges the 2 pipes together but the one single pipe after that.
I didnt think it made any dofference since it will just bolt to your exhaust so the difference shouldent matter.

AUDM DC2R ( same as 98 Spec ) = "4-1" :) ( sweet~~!! )

AUDM DC2R is 4-2-1 and is a 2 peice manifold if im not wrong

Nailed.. AUDM DC2R, 4-2-1 and IS a 2 piece manifold.

the placement of the collector is also important
the collector should be placed there the flame stops but this is not easy so find
